  • Sandwich and double wall: you can now set more UDAs for a certain shell.

  • Wall layout: you can select from the Main part layer list which layer part is set as the main part of the cast unit. There are also new options for customizing the content of the UDA tab.

  • Embedded anchors (8): you can now select in Avoid reinforcement that all reinforcement types are detected in the main part. On the Placement tab, there are changes in the methods for calculating the center of gravity (COG).

  • Hole reinforcements for slabs and walls (84): you can specify which point of the slab will be taken as the origin where the creation plane starts.

  • Reinforcement mesh array in area (89) / Reinforcement mesh array (91): there are improvements on the Overlapping tab.

  • Concrete console (110), Concrete console (111): there are improvements on the Parts tab.

  • Non-solid lines in drawings now have better representation.

  • The IFC2x3 export output file path is now longer.

  • Export Unitechnik (79) has useful improvements: You can use quotation marks for object names consisting of strings with multiple words. External definition file is a new way to control exported reinforcement.

  • Export ELiPLAN file (68) has a new UDA for unit conversion.

  • Tekla Structures extension manager has useful improvements.

  • New steel components are introduced: Wooden purlin shoe (15), Simple bolt connection (5), and Windbracing 2 (16).

  • Rebar coupler and anchor tools have many improvements.

  • In Rebar shape manager, you can now compare selected bars to existing shapes.

  • The name of your organization is now shown in the Tekla Structures start screen.

  • Splitting basic plates and slabs in the model is now easier.

  • UDA search in Document manager has been improved.

  • Texts in PDF reference models are now better covered.

  • Layers are now available for objects in .tekla models.

  • IFC export property sets have been improved.

  • There is a new control for forcing IFC object category in IFC2x3 export.

  • There are several improvements in concrete components.

Tekla Structures 2021

New Tekla Structures subscription offering and start-up changes

  • In the renewed licensing dialog box, the Use your Tekla online license licensing option is selected by default. For on-premises licensing, you need to select the Use your on-premises license server option.
  • The new subscription offering includes an online Tekla Structures license, and a license of Trimble Connect.
  • The Tekla Structures configurations have been streamlined down to three: Tekla Structures Diamond, Tekla Structures Carbon, and Tekla Structures Graphite. The old configurations are still used with on-premises licensing.
  • There are also improvements in the sign-in and start-up process, and in the use of firm, project, and system folders.
  • With the subsription licenses, the selection of commands on the ribbon depends on your user group.
  • You also can use your online license for working offline.

New Instructor side pane and other help changes

  • Tekla Structures 2021 introduces a new side pane window, Instructor, that shows instructions for the currently active ribbon command. Instructor is available for all ribbon commands both in the modeling and drawing mode.

  • Using the Instructor side pane you can create help for tools in the Applications & components catalog. Instructor shows content on selection, so the information is especially useful for giving advice to your users on choosing between different components or giving instructions before running a tool.

  • The separate Tekla Help Viewer has been removed.

  • The status bar at the bottom of the Tekla Structures window now has a new look, and many of the short instructions in the status bar have been improved.

  • Support articles are no longer restricted to maintenance users in Tekla User Assistance.

Improvements in DirectX rendering

  • The option to turn off DirectX rendering has been replaced with an option to turn on the legacy OpenGL rendering.

  • There are new switches in the File menu to replace the previously used DirectX related advanced options.

  • If you want to measure the performance of your DirectX 3D rendering engine, use the new TeklaMark tool from Tekla Warehouse.

  • There is a new advanced option XS_SHOW_STATISTICS_IN_DX that shows statistics and the used rendering device in the DirectX rendered model views.

Batch editing of assemblies or cast units

  • In Tekla Structures 2021, you can now quickly copy all edits from a source assembly or cast unit to specified target assemblies or cast units in one go. The new tool Batch editor reduces the amount of repetitive work in situations where you need to edit identical assemblies or cast units by modifying the object geometry or by changing the part properties.

    Batch editor works with identical assemblies and cast units that have the same position number, or with very similar but differently numbered assemblies and cast units.

New clip planes: View depth clip planes

  • If the model objects do not fit to the work area view depths, you can now create new view depth clip planes on the contextual toolbar.

    Based on the view depth, you can, for example, easily isolate an entire floor from a building. View depth clip planes can be created both in native Tekla Structures models, as well as in reference models and overlay models.

New blind holes and improvements in bolt holes

  • You can now model partial-depth holes that are used in aluminium curtain wall and light gauge steel construction, for example. In the Bolt property pane, set Plain hole type to Blind and type a value for Hole depth.

  • There are several other improvements and fixes in bolt holes.

Reinforcement improvements

  • In Tekla Structures 2021, all reinforcement modeling commands are collected on the Rebar ribbon tab.

  • Rebar set guidelines and modifiers including splitters can now follow the leg face edges that are located between the guideline or modifier end points. Use the new Follow edges setting to control this.

  • There are many new settings and bar grouping improvements for rebar sets.

Renewed shape catalog

  • The shape catalog has been renewed. It has a new user interface and many new features.

Improved reference model clash check

  • Clash check manager has been improved to better and faster find clashes in reference models.

Improvements in components

  • There are several improvements in concrete components and steel components.

Improvements in custom component handling

  • There are improvements in the data lookup file fVF.

  • The data files are now published with the custom components.

  • Custom component password protection has been improved.

Modeling improvements

  • Part solid creation and also the overall performance have been improved.

  • When you copy or move objects using the Copy or Move command, Tekla Structures now displays a preview of the new location of the copied or moved objects in the model. This allows you to see the end result of copying or moving before picking the destination point for the copied or moved objects.

  • You can now use the Enter key to complete commands.

  • There are improvements in Linear array tool, Radial array tool, snapping, clip planes, property pane error messages, pour management, and surface objects.

Improvements in Trimble Connect Visualizer

  • Trimble Connect Visualizer now allows you to create your own materials, and override the materials of particular objects to use another material instead. The material appearances have also been improved.

Drawing layout improvements

  • Tekla Structures 2021 introduces drawing-specific layouts, which allow you to make minor changes to the table sets in individual drawings without editing the drawing layout or creating new layouts.

Dimensioning improvements

  • Tekla Structures 2021 contains enhancements in dimension rules, dimension rule associativity, rebar dimension marks, rebar group dimensioning, and view level dimensioning.

Drawing cloning improvements

  • The cloning of views, part marks, weld marks, and dimensions is now more reliable, and creates higher quality drawings. The cloning is also faster.

Other improvements in drawings

  • Tekla Structures 2021 introduces a large amount of improvements in drawings, including additions on the contextual toolbar in the modeling mode, new settings common for all views in a drawing, and enhancements in Document manager, Drawing content manager, zooming, and object level settings, and many more.

Improvements in Tekla Model Sharing

  • Tekla Structures 2021 introduces several improvements to Tekla Model Sharing. Among others, model owners can now export and import users, and files and folders in XS_FIRM and XS_PROJECT folders can be excluded from sharing.

Improvements in Trimble Connector

  • Tekla Structures 2021 introduces several improvements to overlay models used with Trimble Connector. Among other new features, you can now view the changes between two overlay model versions, and work with overlay model objects in new ways.

Updates in tools for automated precast fabrication

  • There are several new features and important improvements in the automated precast fabrication tools.

Tekla Structural Designer import and export

  • The Tekla Structural Designer export, Tekla Structural Designer Import, and Model Comparison Tool dialog boxes have been renewed.

  • There are improvements in how different part types are imported and exported between Tekla Structures and Tekla Structural Designer.

  • The rebar import from Tekla Structural Designer to Tekla Structures has been improved.

Exporting Tekla Structures models to Tekla EPM with Tekla EPM plug-in

  • You can now export your Tekla Structures model information to Tekla EPM directly from the File menu.

Other improvements in interoperability

  • There are some significant improvements in Tekla Structures 2021 for reference models, IFC export, drawing export, 3D DWG export, and 3D DGN export.

Updates in Template Editor, templates and reports

  • Template Editor User's Guide is now available in Tekla User Assistance. There are also some new settings to control the rebar pull-out picture creation, an improvement in graphical field output, and new string functions for changing character case. Furthermore, there are also some new template attributes, and some attributes have changed.

  • Show selected documents only mode and issuing work better now in Document manager.

  • The order of drawings in the Print Drawings dialog box now matches the order they appeared in Document manager.

  • Zoom to selected now works for templates in drawings.

  • The accuracy of curved lines in reference models has been increased, and now there are four times more segments in curves.

  • The .tekla models now contain pours, pour units, and grids.

  • There are improvements in the following components: Precast found block (1028) and U.S. Base plate connection (71).

There are useful improvements in drawings, IFC2x3 export, keyboard shortcuts, rebar set modifiers and guidelines, and template attributes. Template Editor User's Guide is now available in Tekla User Assistance.

  • It is now faster to change object level settings in drawings.

  • You can now easily synchronize your drawing sizes with the paper sizes that are used in printing. This way, you can ensure that the drawing sizes that you use for your drawing layouts are also available for printing.

  • The IFC2x3 export datetime property has been improved.

  • You can now use new keyboard shortcuts to modify the part position of beams, polybeams, contour plates, and slabs, instead of using the Position options in the property pane or on the contextual toolbar. The keyboard shortcuts work for both native Tekla Structures parts as well as for analysis parts.

  • When modifying rebar sets, you can now change the direction of splitters, modifiers, and guidelines.

  • There are new template attributes for rebar sets: SUB_ID_WITH_LETTERS and SUB_ID_WITH_LETTERS_LAST.

There are useful new features and improvements in rebar dimension mark properties, cloning, Rebar pull-out picture and marking, export, Tekla Model Sharing, and components:

  • Rebar dimension mark properties now have their own dialog box in Tekla Structures. You can save the settings you make in the Rebar dimension mark properties dialog box as *.rdim settings files. Having separate dialog boxes and settings files makes it easier to customize your rebar dimension properties, and still leave your other dimension properties unaffected.

  • Cloning is now more reliable.

  • The Rebar pull-out picture and marking application has a new section for Presentation options.

  • The 3D DWG and 3D DWG exports, and the Export to Revit (.rvt) Geometry extension in Tekla Warehouse, now allow you to export selected parts in an assembly when you use the Selected parts option.

  • Tekla Model Sharing has been improved so that if you use a Trimble Connect folder as the project or firm folder, you can now see the progress of the data synchronization from the project or firm folder to the local model.

  • There are several new features and improvements in the following components: Rectangular column reinforcement (83), Edge and corner reinforcement (62), Hollowcore reinforcement strands (60), and Auto bolt.

There are useful new features and improvements in pours, rebar sets, marks, and IFC export:

  • The calculation of pour units has been improved to also attach non-solid items into overlapping pour objects. There are also improvements in pour calculation tolerance.

  • There are improvements in rebar set splitters and in using rebar sets in custom components.

  • You can now copy and move manually created detail marks and section marks.

  • In IFC2x3 export, there is a new model option, XS_EXPORT_IFC_REBARSET_INDIVIDUAL_BARS, for exporting rebars created by rebar sets.

Tekla Structures 2020

Starting from Tekla Structures 2020, the Steel Detailing configuration allows pour modeling if pours are enabled in the model.

Easy creation of curved shapes: improvements in lofted plates and lofted slabs

  • The creation of lofted plates and lofted slabs has been further enhanced. You can model even more complex curved shapes by using polycurve construction objects. Additionally, you can unfold lofted plates in single-part drawings.

Improvements in geometry editing and items

  • There are new ways to start geometry editing, to add and show item vertexes, and to create items and shapes using existing parts in the model.

Changes in numeric snapping and other modeling improvements

  • There are improvements in numeric snapping. You can enter coordinate axis prefixes x, y, and z in the Enter a Numeric Location dialog box when you position or modify an object by using direct modification.

  • The solid errors found in the currently open model are now shown in the report that opens when you use the Diagnose & repair > Diagnose model command on the File menu.

  • You can again create construction circles on the view plane by picking two points: the center point and a point to define the radius of the circle.

  • In Task manager, you can now select from 13 predefined options how the date and time are displayed in a task.

  • You can now adjust the toolbar size and at the same time the icon size on the toolbars.

  • There is a new handle dragging option on the contextual toolbar.

  • There are small improvements in the side pane window docking and in the customization of the contextual toolbars.

  • The Automatic User Feedback program is now called Usage statistics in File > Settings. Collecting the usage data is on by default.

Small changes in the appearance of model and model objects

  • The DirectX rendered model views have been improved. Part edge lines are shown as dashed lines in transparent model views. Model objects have thicker edge lines. In addition, the default values of XS_USE_ANTI_ALIASING_IN_DX has changed to TRUE.

Bar layering and other improvements in rebar sets

  • There are changes in commands that create rebar sets, for example, the new Create rebars by guidelines command for creating rebar sets.

  • There are improvements in defining and adjusting bar layers in model views. For example, the rebar set bar layer numbers are now shown on each leg face when you set the leg faces visible and select rebar set bars.

  • Reporting bar layer information has been improved. There are new bar layer settings for rebar sets in the Options dialog box and in the user-defined attributes.

  • There are new settings for defining concrete covers.

  • There are changes in creating and modifying leg faces, and improvements in the secondary guidelines.

New user interface for rebar catalog

  • There is a new user interface for the rebar catalog. The rebar catalog contains definitions for reinforcing bars and strands.

Show and modify drawing views in the model

  • You can show the drawing views of the selected drawings in any of the open model views to get a clearer understanding of exactly where a drawing view is located in the 3D model, the view direction, and the 3D extents of that view.

Improved Layout editor - Customize drawing layouts easily

  • Tekla Structures 2020 introduces the new and improved Drawing layout editor. You can now customize drawing layouts easily in a separate layout editing mode that shows all the changes you make in real time.

Improved rebar coupler and end anchor symbols

  • Displaying rebar shapes in drawing templates and in reinforcement mark pull-out pictures has been enhanced, and the rebar scheduling workflow is now more effortless and straightforward.

Rebar dimensioning improvements

  • The creation of dimension marks has been simplified. There is only one rebar dimension mark command that uses the current applied dimension properties for creating dimension marks without tags, tagged dimension marks, distributed dimension lines, or variants of these styles. There are also changes in the rebar Dimension Properties dialog box, integrated cast unit rebar dimensioning, and Rebar group dimensioning.

Other drawing improvements

  • There are improvements in displaying rebars, Rebar pull-out picture and marking, marks, Document manager, macros, curved dimensions, and drawing performance.

Updates in Template Editor, template handling and reports

  • There are several improvements in Template Editor.

New point cloud settings and other improvements

  • The Point clouds side pane has been completely renewed.

    The new point cloud functionalities are available when you have attached a point cloud, and DirectX rendering is active.

Other interoperability improvements

  • There are improvements in IFC4 export, IFC object conversion, DWG export, Layout manager, Tekla Structural Designer import, base points, and MIS export. There is also a new model format .tekla available.

Updates in tools for automated precast fabrication

  • Export Unitechnik (79), Export EliPLAN, BVBS Export, and HMS Export contain several improvements.

New formwork placing tools for walls and slabs

  • Tekla Structures 2020 includes new formwork placing tools: Formwork placing tools - Walls and Formwork placing tools - Slabs. Previously, these tools have been available in Tekla Warehouse. The formwork placing tools enable the efficient modeling of different wall panel and slab panel formwork systems.

Easier Trimble Connect collaboration

  • There are several improvements regarding the use of Trimble Connect and Trimble Connector. Starting Trimble Connect collaboration is now easier, and new lightweight reference models have been added. New buttons on the ribbon also make it faster to access and work with Trimble Connect and Trimble Connector

New VR mode and other improvements in Trimble Connect Visualizer

  • You can now view your rendered models in the virtual reality mode using Trimble Connect Visualizer. New materials have also been added for material mapping between Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect Visualizer.

Tekla Model Sharing improvements

  • There are several improvements to Tekla Model Sharing. For example, you can now view the local changes that you have made in the model but that you have not yet shared to other users. Object locks have been strengthened. You can now use a folder in a Trimble Connect project as the project or firm folder in Tekla Structures.

  • Starting from Tekla Structures 2019i SP1, if you have sketched profiles in your model or you try to import them, Tekla Structures will show a message that a tool needed for solving part geometry is not available. You can download the Sketch Solver tool from Tekla Warehouse.

  • When Direct modification is active, you can start geometry editing simply by selecting an item that has a solid shape.

Tekla Structures 2019i

Trimble Connect Visualizer - Create 3D renderings of your models

  • Starting from Tekla Structures 2019i, you can access Trimble Connect Visualizer directly from Tekla Structures. In Trimble Connect Visualizer, you can take snapshots or create animations that demonstrate the design of your models and the build options, and use the snapshots and animations to create more appealing sales and project presentations.

Switch between manual and automatic applying in the property pane

  • When you modify properties in the property pane, you can use the new Set default values automatically option to switch between automatic and manual applying of properties for the next objects of the same type.

Updates to the property pane, UDAs, and to the Property pane editor

  • The property pane and the Property pane editor have been improved. With these updates, especially the viewing and modifying of user-defined attributes (UDAs) is easier and more straightforward.

    There are new options to control the visibility of properties and user-defined attributes in the property pane. For example, you can control which properties are shown in the property pane without customizing the property pane layout.

  • In the Property pane editor, you can set property groups hidden or visible and copy multiple property groups.

  • Improved search in the property pane finds all the properties and user-defined attributes (UDAs) that are available for the object type.

  • Copying of properties has been improved.

Snapping improvements

  • Orthogonal snapping has been changed so that the orthogonal snap points have the lowest priority among the snap points.

  • Tekla Structures displays a snap tooltip that shows the name of the snap point when you start a command that requires picking points and move the mouse pointer over objects in the model.

  • The colors related to snapping have been enhanced to make the snapping easier and more accurate.

  • You can set the temporary reference point also by right-clicking when a command is running and selecting the Define temporary snap reference point option.

Radial grids and grid properties in the property pane

  • You can now create truly radial grids. Previously, you could create only rectangular grids.

  • The properties of rectangular grids, radial grids, and single grid lines are accessed through the property pane.

New plate type for bent plates: stand-alone bent plate

  • You can now create stand-alone bent plates that do not require any input parts. Use stand-alone bent plates to model both cylindrical and conical parts, such as hoods, hoppers, cones, and so on.

  • Tekla Structures 2019 introduces two new construction objects, construction arc and construction polycurve.

  • There is a new command to copy construction lines, circles, arcs, and polycurves in the direction that you indicate, and using the offset values that you specify. You can also change a construction line to an arc. Construction circles and lines have been improved.

Modeling and detailing improvements

  • Snapping has been improved to make it work better with the Ortho tool.

  • There are improvements in bolt holes and welds. For example, there is now a new option in the Bolt properties that you can use to specify which plies of the connection do not get holes.

New Support tool

  • The new Support tool allows you to contact Tekla Structures support directly. With this tool you can collect the model, related files, and other necessary information in one support request, and safely upload your request to Tekla Structures support.

New way to edit model object properties

  • The new property pane replaces the previously used model object properties dialog boxes. Most model objects have a property pane in the modeling mode.

Easier way to change work planes

  • Use the work plane handler toolbar to select which work plane you currently have in use in the model. You can switch between the different saved work planes and base points.

Undo modeling and drawing changes with the new Undo history command

  • All the commands that you have run and the modifications you have done are now listed in the new Undo history dialog box. By selecting a command or an action in the Undo history dialog box, you can undo or redo several commands at one go, and thus go back and forth in the model history.

Other user interface changes

  • Tekla Online is a new side pane that provides a shortcut access to the different Tekla Online services.

  • There are improvements in the side pane. You can easily open and close side pane windows. You can have several side pane windows open at the same time.

  • Snapping and Selecting toolbars have been renewed.

  • Snap symbol colors have been changed.

  • Quick Launch finds the commands on the File menu.

  • The base point symbol has changed.

New selection tool and other modeling improvements

  • There is a new object selection tool for selecting again the same objects that you selected previously but have then deselected.

  • There are several improvements in construction objects. For example, you can now change the line type of the construction lines and circles.

  • There are improvements in the Inquire tool, numbering, welds, and shapes.

More accurate analysis models and other analysis and design improvements

  • There is a new method of generating analysis models. Analysis parts are now automatically connected more accurately, and the nodes are created at correct locations.

  • You can now export a Tekla Structures analysis model to Tekla Structural Designer along with the physical model.

  • You can import the changes you have made in Tekla Structural Designer and update the corresponding analysis model in Tekla Structures.

  • There are improvements in defining analysis model content and filters, changes in the Analysis Model Properties dialog box, and in analysis classes and node colors.

Faster rebar sets and other reinforcement improvements

  • There are many improvements that enhance performance in models that contain rebar sets.

  • There are three new selection switches for selecting bars within rebar sets.

  • It is now more easy to add leg faces to rebar sets.

  • There are improvements in rebar set splitters, grouping bars in rebar sets, and in numbering reinforcement meshes.

  • There are many new settings that you can use to define and show position numbers for rebar set bars in drawings and reports.

  • There are reinforcement improvements in drawings, for example, some improvements in reinforcement behavior and appearance, such as preventing overlapping rebars, a new option to show single lines with filled ends, and solid lines at rebar ends.

Improvements in pour management

  • Pour unit is a new object type similar to assemblies and cast units. A pour unit combines together a pour object and other objects that need to be in place before cast-in-place concrete can be poured. You can filter and report pour units, and use them in Organizer and Task manager.

  • Pour properties are shown in the property pane.

New way to manage drawing content and other mark and note improvements

  • There are lots of significant improvements in marks, especially related to mark placement and drawing content handling.

  • There is a new drawing tool Drawing content manager available for quickly checking the included model objects and related marks, and for adding marks.

  • You can add associative notes and model weld marks to several model objects or welds at one go, and easily select all part marks and weld marks.

  • There are new options for hiding weld marks, and improvements in text alignment.

Customized dimension line arrows and other dimensioning improvements

  • You can customize dimension line arrows, and create arrows of your own. You can change the dimension arrow size for all arrow types.

  • You can add pour object properties in dimension tags.

  • Straight rebar dimensions are anchored to the rebar ends.

  • There are updates in the Rebar group dimensioning application.

Other drawing improvements

  • There are small but important new features and enhancements, for example, in hole/recess symbols in complex geometries, snapping, filtering, Drawing layout editor, welds, pattern lines, custom grid labels, and printing. Opening drawings is now much faster.

Template Editor improvements

  • Template Editor has been updated to version 3.6. The usability of Template Editor has been improved further, and you can now have several dialog boxes open at the same time, open new templates in new application windows, search for attributes, and much more.

Reserve next write out and other Tekla Model Sharing improvements

  • You can now reserve the next write out in a shared model. Reserving the next write out is useful if you need to ensure that other users will not write out changes that would override the changes you are making.

  • You can create a model baseline using Sharing automation tool.

Improvements in IFC export, import and conversion

  • IFC4 has been developed further.

  • IFC2x3 export in Trimble Connector now supports the use of IFC setting files.

Point clouds in 3D scanning

  • You can now attach point clouds to Tekla Structures models. Point clouds are groups of measured points on the surfaces of objects created with 3D laser scanners, for example, Trimble 3D laser scanners.

Updates in tools for concrete fabrication

  • Export Unitechnik (79) and Export EliPLAN contain several new useful features, and HMS Export has also been improved.

Trimble Connector and other interoperability improvements

  • You can add attachments to ToDo notes in Trimble Connector. You can collaborate with Trimble Connect Desktop. Coordinate system has been removed from Trimble Connector settings.

  • Since Tekla Structures 2016, you have been able to use a DirectX rendering engine alongside the default OpenGL-based rendering engine.   • You can now export Tekla Structures drawings to 2D DWG and DXF format using the new DWG export. You can export several drawings at a time.

Base point improvements

  • The base point functionality has been further improved. You can set one base point to be the base point for the whole project. You can also inquire base point values using template attributes, and use base points in drawings.

New Excel export for reference model version changes

  • When the reference model change management is active, you can export the contents of the changes list into an Excel file. You can select if the exported Excel file contains all properties or changed properties only. The information is exported in the current language.

  • The new version of the IFC standard, IFC4, was introduced between main releases, in Tekla Structures 2017 SP1.

There is a useful new feature in IFC4 - New version of IFC standard.

  • The new version of the IFC standard, IFC4, provides some advantages to the currently used IFC2x3 format when the new features are taken fully into use. While the IFC4 export and import functionalities are not certified yet, the IFC2x3 provides better quality data transfer functionality between different BIM tools.

Object IDs changed to GUIDs

  • Object IDs have been largely replaced by globally unique identifiers (GUID) in Tekla Structures. GUID is a permanent object property and can be used to identify objects reliably.

User interface improvements

  • You can save and create a backup copy of your model.

  • You can distribute customizations, such as contextual toolbars, customized ribbons, and individual ribbon tabs, to a large group of users by using firm and/or environment folders.

  • There are useful improvements in copying objects, and in the contextual toolbar, such as changing the visibility of object types.

  • You can switch tooltips on and off.

  • Tekla Warehouse offline content is now available as .tsep packages (Tekla Structures Extension Package).   • A new version of the Tekla Structures multi-user server is available. In addition to IPv4, this version of the multi-user server also supports connections over IPv6.

  • Tekla Structures 2017 can be used in networks that use IPv4, IPv6, or both the IPv4 and IPv6 protocols.

Modeling improvements

  • There are improvements in selecting objects. You can more easily select objects that are hidden behind other objects.

  • There are several improvements in direct modification. For example, you can move point and line handles to any location in the 3D space by using the new Move in 3D command.

  • Bent plates have been improved to help you modify the shape of existing bent plates.

Rebar sets - A flexible new way to create reinforcement

  • Rebar sets are a very flexible and versatile method to create reinforcement. Using rebar sets you can reinforce various areas in concrete parts, as well as in pour objects, or outside concrete objects.

New tolerance settings in Rebar shape manager

  • On the new Tolerances tab in the Rebar shape manager dialog box, you can define the tolerances that are used when the bending shape rules are compared.

Faster synchronization and other Organizer and Task manager improvements

  • Organizer: Synchronization has been improved and reporting of objects is more fluent and faster than before. Synchronizing Organizer now updates all properties of only the changed objects in the Organizer database.

  • Task manager: You can now show a sequence in the model.

Better performance and other drawing improvements

  • Drawing opening has been improved. You get more information on what is going on while you open drawings.

  • There are several improvements in drawing performance.

  • Reference model change detection has been improved. Reference models now use customizable comparison sets in change detection. There are some new controls for making the comparison.

  • Organizer has several improvements. For example, you can use the new property categories to add properties to model objects.

  • Task manager has several improvements such as new columns to define task tracking and scheduling, and several changes in the Task Information dialog box.

  • There is a new model object type: surface. Surfaces can be used for calculating surface areas, such as formwork areas. Surfaces are planar and have zero thickness.

  • There is a new rendering type: grayscale. It replaces the representation option Hidden lines of model parts and component objects.

  • In addition, there are improvements in snapping, pour objects, and Rebar shape manager.

Drawing changes

  • The new 2D Library allows you to quickly save and reuse drawing sections and details.

  • You can add associative notes to reference objects in drawings.

  • In addition, there are improvements in drawing dimensions and marks, drawing texts, and more drawing commands available on the ribbon.

Fillet edges in models and drawings

  • Straight and curved part faces are clearly separated from each other, and the boundaries between them can be shown as fillet edges in model views and in drawings. Fillet edges can be shown in all drawing types for parts and pours.

Interoperability changes

  • The Change detection between the different versions of the same reference model has been developed further, and you can now also check the changes on object level.

  • There are improvements in the IFC export and in the IFC object conversion change management. Two conversion methods are available: direct conversion of the selected IFC objects at one go and converting objects using reference model change management.

  • Trimble Connector is a new way for Tekla Structures to connect with Trimble Connect for sharing reference models.

  • You can import extensions from Tekla Warehouse to the Applications & components catalog.

  • You can collect content, such as macros, extensions and custom components to a group that you create in the Applications & components catalog.

  • There are many improvements in NC/DSTV, Export Unitechnik (79), Sketchup, Export ELiPLAN, and Tekla Structural Designer.

Tekla Model Sharing changes

  • The visualization and the traceability of the sharing changes has been improved.

  • You can check the sharing history of a model event-by-event, and see how the model has evolved by the changes made by other users.

  • The read in and write out buttons are now on the Quick Access Toolbar, on top of the ribbon.

  • New settings have been added to the Sharing settings dialog box: Show changes after read in and Only when conflicts exist.
