Live Collaboration for Tekla Structures (Preview) is now enabled

With Live Collaboration for Tekla Structures you can collaborate in real time between 3D models without exporting or sharing any files. Live Collaboration brings a project team together to review work being carried out in Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect.

Note:

Live Collaboration for Tekla Structures is released as a Preview feature. A Preview feature is ready for production use, but the feature development can continue based on the feedback. The Preview features are primarily intended for evaluation purposes, providing an alternative approach to your usual workflows. We encourage you to test the feature in a normal business environment and share your feedback. NOTE: a Preview feature may be enhanced, updated, or discontinued at any time in response to feedback. Preview features are provided “as is” without any Trimble warranty or indemnity.

In Trimble Connect, Live Collaboration is labeled as Beta.

As a part of the review process, Tekla Structures users can share their model modifications live to other Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect users, and see the modifications and the navigation of other collaborators in their Tekla Structures model. Model changes are visible to all collaborators, but each user can edit only their own model. This means that you can see other users' model objects as an overlay among your model objects in Tekla Structures, but you cannot edit them or convert them to native Tekla Structures objects. Trimble Connect users can also share models which are stored in the Trimble Connect project.

Before you can start using Live Collaboration, the following prerequisites must be met:

  • Your Tekla Structures model needs to be linked to a Trimble Connect project. See instructions here: Link a Tekla Structures model to a Trimble Connect project.
  • Invite your collaborators to the Trimble Connect project. All collaborators using either Tekla Structures or Trimble Connect need to be members of the same Trimble Connect project to be able to join the same Live Collaboration session. See instructions here: Inviting users.
  • In Trimble Connect for Browser 3D viewer, go to Settings and enable the Live Collaboration extension. The Live Collaboration functionalities then become available.

To start a live collaboration session in Tekla Structures, click in the Tekla Structures side pane to open the Live Collaboration side pane window. Then click the Start a session or join a session with a link button.

For more information, see Real-time collaboration with Live Collaboration for Tekla Structures (Preview).

Kingspan File transfer updates

  • File transfer has been updated, increasing the maximum ID mark length from 6 to 10 characters.
  • There are changes in how Tekla Structures handles exploded items (struts and wires). Exploded items are now checked against the data prior to exploding. If the data has not changed, the items will be exported to the File transfer.
  • New rafter stay profiles have been added for 14 mm holes on both ends. The profiles can be detailed and exported using standard Kingspan connections.
  • In addition, general improvements and enhancements have been made to Kingspan connections.
TTSD-55820 Import, export, interoperability

IFC2x3 export: Previously, when the IFC entity of a column part was set to IfcMechanicalFastener, the column part was still exported as IfcColumn in the IFC2x3 export. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-69091 Import, export, interoperability

Import from Tekla Structural Designer: Previously, when importing a Tekla Structural Designer model with US Imperial unit settings into Tekla Structures, the dimensions in the Model Comparison Tool appeared in metric units. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-69503 Import, export, interoperability

IFC4 export: The compatibility of IFC4 export with IFC2x3 export has been improved for building hierarchy templates.

TTSD-70692 Import, export, interoperability

IFC2x3 export: Exporting the rebar attribute NominalDiameter is now using nominal diameter from environment instead of actual diameter.

TTSD-71129 Import, export, interoperability

Import from Tekla Structural Designer: Previously, in some cases, imported wall panels did not split correctly into separate objects. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-71457 Import, export, interoperability

DSTV/NC: Earlier, when exporting a plate with countersunk bolts being on the back plane and using XS_DSTV_WRITE_BEHIND_FACE_FOR_PLATE=TRUE, the AK block corresponding to the back plane was created incorrectly. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-68014 Templates and reports

Template Editor: Using the fvf function in reports and drawing templates, a file that worked with spaces in names in Tekla Structures 2022 no longer worked in the latest Tekla Structures versions. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-70731 Templates and reports

Template Editor: Sometimes the value field length was calculated incorrectly indicating that the length would go outside the component boundaries. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-70925 Templates and reports

Previously, in reports, the length and weight of circular spiral reinforcing bars were correct on REBAR rows but not on SINGLE_REBAR rows. This issue has now been fixed.

TSAC-9187 Drawings

Rebar group marking: Arrow symbols are now created respecting the dimension line direction. Earlier, the symbols were static and did not follow the dimension line direction.

TTSD-59235 Drawings

Previously, the view label editor in the property pane did not display the same view label as the one in the drawing. Now, when modifying view properties, the view label editor automatically corrects any properties that have not been correctly defined due to inconsistencies in the environment property files.

TTSD-62606 Drawings

Pour solid edge chamfers in drawings: Previously, the visibility of the pour solid edge chamfers in the drawing depended on which one you opened first, the model view or the drawing. Now, if there are edge chamfers in the pour objects, the solid geometry always uses the edge chamfered solid in the drawings.

This improvement also fixes a performance issue in pour drawings introduced in an earlier service pack.

TTSD-67068 Drawings

The property pane visual editor now allows for multi-item drag and drop. When dragging items from different rows, the editor automatically organizes them into a single row, maintaining a clear order from top to bottom and left to right.

TTSD-68474 Drawings

Previously, in GA drawings, the reference object list in the view properties sometimes showed objects from previous models if you had opened many models during the same Tekla Structures session. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-70505 Drawings

Previously, in specific cases when a drawing was missing the relation to its main part in the model, and you had a complex value for the advanced option XS_SINGLE_PART_DRAWING_VIEW_TITLE, a Tekla Structures application error could occur. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-70642 Drawings

Earlier, after deleting a merged weld mark, it was not possible to recreate single weld marks for the same parts. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-71533 Drawings

DWG/DXF files: The All files option is now available in the DWG/DXF drawing property pane in the file browser when you are adding a link to a DWG/DXF file in a drawing.

TTSD-71637 Drawings

Some rare application errors in solid operations have been fixed. One known situation was an application error when resizing the drawing view boundary.

TTSD-51268 Modeling

Filtering: When the Select from model or Multi-select from model option is used with the Template category and with property definitions for MATERIAL, such as MATERIAL.STRENGTH_CLASS, the values are now shown also for pour objects and pour units.

TTSD-69712 Modeling

Previously, workplane related template attributes were not working in model view filters and selection filters. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-70158 Modeling

Batch editor now handles components, such as Double wall details, better than previously.

TSAC-9544 Tools and components

Custom components: The Object Properties dialog now opens centered on Custom component dialog editor. Previously, the Object Properties dialog opened on the main display, regardless of the Custom component dialog editor location.

TSAC-9545 Tools and components

Custom Component Dialog Editor: The Object Properties dialog now displays Multiple objects for Object style when multiple objects are selected. Previously, Object style displayed nothing for multiple object selections.

TSAC-8408 Import, export, interoperability (steel)
