You cannot install the Tekla Subscription Tool on the same computer as legacy on-premises licensing tools.

Install the Tekla Subscription Tool on each computer where you want to use your subscription with legacy versions of Tekla Structures.

1. If you are not already signed in, sign in to your Trimble Identity.
2. Download the installation file from Trimble Downloads to your computer.
3. Double-click the installation file to run the installation.
4. Follow the steps in the installation wizard to complete the installation.

   By default, the Tekla Subscription Tool is installed in the C:\Tekla\License\SubscriptionTool\ folder. You can change the installation folder in the installation wizard.

The Tekla Subscription Tool does not start automatically, even if it was running during the previous Windows session. You must start the Tekla Subscription Tool manually to use it.

1. Start the Tekla Subscription Tool from the Windows Start menu.

   When the Tekla Subscription Tool starts, you are prompted to sign in using your Trimble Identity. The sign in page opens in your default browser.

2. Sign in to your Trimble Identity.

If you previously used an on-premises license server in your company's network, you must change the license server address in Tekla Structures to use the Tekla Subscription Tool.

1. Start Tekla Structures.
2. To connect Tekla Structures to the Tekla Subscription Tool, enter the host name of the Tekla Subscription tool in the licensing dialog box.
   • To use the default port, enter @localhost or @127.0.0.1
   • To use a different port, enter <port_number>@localhost or <port_number>@127.0.0.1.
   
3. To start Tekla Structures, click OK.

You can change the language of the Tekla Subscription Tool user interface at any time.

1. Click the Settings icon.
   
2. From the Select language list, select the language.
3. Click Restart.

By default, the Tekla Subscription Tool does not start automatically when you sign in to Windows. If you want the Tekla Subscription tool to start automatically when you sign in to Windows, you can optionally configure it to run automatically.

1. In Windows, browse to the Tekla Subscription Tool installation folder.

   Example: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Tekla Subscription Tool for legacy versions

2. Copy the .lnk file for the Tekla Subscription Tool application to the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder.

By default, the port number of the Tekla Subscription Tool is automatically selected from a range of port numbers. If another service uses the same port number as the Tekla Subscription Tool, you can specify a fixed port for the Tekla Subscription Tool to prevent a port conflict.

1. Ensure that no other software or service uses the port number that you want to specify for the Tekla Subscription Tool.
2. In the Tekla Subscription Tool, return any licenses that are reserved.
3. Open the tekla.lic file in a text editor.

   The default location of this file is ..Tekla\License\SubscriptionTool.

4. At the end of the VENDOR tekla line, add PORT=port_number.
   Note: Ensure that the text editor does not change the capitalization of tekla. It must be written in lowercase.

   This example shows a tekla.lic file after adding a port number:

5. Save the changes and close the file.

If you no longer need the Tekla Subscription Tool, you can uninstall it.

1. On the Windows Start menu, open the Apps & features system settings.
2. In the Apps & features list, select Tekla Subscription Tool.
3. Click Uninstall.
