Value field output properties in Template Editor
Value fields can be modified based on what you want to calculate and show in a report. Open the Value Field Properties dialog box to modify the output properties.
Be aware that there are many different combinations of settings that can be applied to value fields. Some also depend on the properties applied to rows.
Property | Description |
|---|---|
Formula | The formula that has been applied to the value field. Modify the field by selecting anAttribute... and/or modifying the Formula... |
Name | A unique name for the value field. If you change the name of the value field, you must change it in all formulas and rules in which it appears. |
Line count | You can add multiple lines of text to a value field, for example, if it has a long description. With multiple lines, you can align the lines to Top, Middle or Bottom. Click your preference in the Align list in the Layout section of the dialog. Outputting multiple lines with a value field requires that the Line count is larger than 1, and that the output data for the value field is either very long (resulting in automatic line breaks) or contains substrings with \n (forcing a line break). Even if you do not use multiple lines, the space will be reserved. NOTE: The height of the row will limit the number of lines you can use. |
Data type | There are three options:
|
Output 0 as an empty string | Select the check box to output the value field with a value of zero as an empty string. |
Hide in output | Select the check box to exclude this value field from output. |
Meaning | Defines the meaning of the value field (the format) and is product-specific. Format, for example, can be Length, Weight, Force, etc. |
Unit | When the value field meaning is set, the related units are available in this list. |
|
Decimals |
When you have specified the Data type as Number with decimals, this field is active. You can set how many decimal places are in the number. |
|
Order |
Choose the order for value field output: None, Ascending, Descending or Application (Trimble product). The value field output order is also determined by the sort type applied to the row in the Row Properties dialog box. The sort type for the row must be defined in order to use this option. When rows are combined, there are several options:
For value fields that have the Data type defined as Text, a separator can be defined. You can also define the last separator individually. The results is that unique text values in value fields can now be combined into a single text value when rows are combined. If the Data type is number or number with decimals then those number are summed and the result is a single number. |
Layout | Modify the settings related to the layout of the value field:
|
|
Border(s) |
NOTE: This only applies to textual templates that are output as Microsoft Excel files. Apply borders to the value field. You can apply them to any side of the value field by clicking the checkboxes. You can choose from: No border, Thin, Thick or Double. |
Set as default for new value fields | Select the check box to save the settings applied to all new value fields. |
