Edit a model together with a general arrangement drawing
When working in a general arrangement drawing, you might notice that some changes are needed in the model. For example, you might need to correct object geometries, modify object properties, and add missing parts. While having the general arrangement drawing open, you can open a suitable model view or create a new model view, and then edit the model without closing the drawing. The changes you make in the model are immediately visible in the drawing.
When you have a general arrangement drawing open:
-
Open a model view for editing.
You can select the model view in the Model view side pane, from the list of views on the Window tab on the ribbon, or from the model if you have many model views open.
-
If needed, on the ribbon, click the Window tab and select either Tile horizontally or Tile vertically to view both the drawing and the model at the same time.
-
In the drawing, select the objects that you want to modify.
The objects that you select in the drawing are highlighted in the model. You can select one object, multiple objects, or you can use area selection.

Limitations
-
Some modeling commands are not available when you have the general arrangement drawing open. For example, you cannot perform numbering, open other models, use the Save as command, or you cannot create any type of other drawings. Tekla Model Sharing commands are not available. To use these commands, you have to close the drawing.
-
Grids cannot be selected between models and drawings.
-
The performance of model changes might be slightly affected while a general arrangement drawing is open. The performance depends on the number of drawing views that contain modified objects and the related objects in the drawing view that need adjustments.
