Why do I have to sign in to Tekla products and services?
Signing in using a Trimble Identity is required so that Tekla products and services know who you are and what you are entitled to use. For example, you must be signed in to download Tekla products and use your Tekla subscriptions.
If you work for a company your Trimble Identity must also be connected to a Tekla Online organization (a user group for the company), so that you can access the subscriptions and data owned by your organization. To learn more about connecting to Tekla Online Services refer to this article.
How often do I have to sign in?
When you successfully sign in from a Tekla product or a Tekla online service using your Trimble Identity your sign-in session will remain valid for up to 30 days unless you sign out or clear your web browser's cached data.
If your organization has configured Trimble Identity to use Single Sign-On (SSO) then you may not need to sign in to Trimble Identity directly.
If I sign in to one Tekla product will I have to sign in to other Tekla products?
No.
Tekla products are designed to provide a convenient single sign-in experience, so if you sign in using one Tekla product you will not have to sign in again when launching subsequent Tekla products.
When launching a Tekla product why don't I see the new role I was assigned?
If you have been assigned a new Tekla role and that role is not available to you when using a Tekla product or service or you cannot access a service you previously could try signing out and then signing back in.
Do I need to sign out before I close a product?
No.
You do not need to sign out before closing a product. Your software license will be released automatically when closing the Tekla product you are using unless you choose to keep the license reserved on your device for offline use.
What happens when I sign out?
When signing out using your web browser you will be signed out of all Tekla Online Services. You will not be signed out of any Tekla products.
When signing out from a Tekla product using the “sign out and exit” command, the license you are using will be released and you will be signed out of all Tekla Online Services and the Tekla product.
Can I set up my Tekla products so I don't have to enter my credentials each time I need to sign in?
Yes.
Federation is a type of secure sign-in where your identity is trusted across multiple IT systems or organizations. A federated Trimble Identity is linked to your electronic identity and attributes stored in another identity management system. Single Sign-On (SSO) and sign-in with Social Identity (Google, Apple, Microsoft.) are the two most common forms of this. Using one of these options your existing domain email and sign-in status is used to sign into your Trimble Identity automatically.
