Align selected drawing objects

In drawings, you can align the selected views, texts, marks, notes, and symbols relative to the point you pick. You can also position objects horizontally or vertically at equal distances from each other.

For details about aligning drawing views, see Modify, arrange, and align drawing views.

In an open drawing, do any of the following:

To Do this

Align selected views, symbols, texts, marks, and notes

  1. Select the objects that you want to align. You can align views, marks, notes, text, and symbols.

You can select one or several objects using appropriate selection switches or filters and area selection, for example. If you want to align marks and notes only, you can use Drawing content manager for first selecting the building objects and then the related marks or notes.

For more information about Drawing content manager, see Drawing content manager.

  2. Select the aligning command from the toolbar:

aligns the selected objects above the point that you pick.

aligns the selected objects below the point that you pick.

aligns the selected objects to the right of the point that you pick.

aligns the selected objects to the left of the point that you pick.

aligns the selected objects to the vertical center of the point that you pick.

aligns the selected objects to the horizontal center of the point that you pick.

positions the selected objects to the vertical center of the point that you pick at equal distances.

positions the selected objects to the horizontal center of the point that you pick at equal distances.

  3. Pick a location for the alignment.

If you have mixed objects selected, such as views and text objects, you will be prompted to select which objects you want to align.

  4. If you selected one of the two commands that position objects at equal distances, type the distance in the displayed dialog and press Enter.
Tip:

To create a row of objects, align them first to the top and then position them horizontally at equal distances from each other. You do not need to reselect the objects between the two commands.
