Manage global and model settings

Default Global settings exist in Tekla Structural Designer for controlling many aspects of the software operation, such as the analysis, design, report and drawings.

To save editing time on a model-by-model basis, we recommend that the global settings are configured to suit your needs and saved to one or more settings set(s).

For example you might choose to customize the precision of units, the reference format used for naming objects, the regional design codes to work to, or any of the many other settings.

When you create a new model its Model settings, Analysis settings, Design settings, Drawing settings, Slab deflection settings and Footfall assessment settings are loaded from the active settings set. Each of these settings are then specific to the new model only.

If you have changed any of these model specific settings and want to revert them, you can choose to re-load them from the active settings set. Alternatively, if you want to keep them and have them applied to new models also, you can choose to save them to the active settings set. For details, see: Apply and manage model specific settings.
