Column (command)

Create a steel (rolled, plated, concrete filled, or concrete encased); concrete (cast-in-place or precast); timber; or cold formed column.

Create a column in a 2D view

Create a column at the position you pick.

  1. In the Properties window set the Base Level and Top Level, then ensure the remaining properties are set as required.
  2. Pick a point.

Tekla Structural Designer creates the column between the base and top levels.

Create a discontinuous column in a 3D view

Create a column between two points you pick.

  1. In the Properties window ensure Continuous is unselected and other properties are set as required.
  2. Pick the start point.
  3. Pick the end point.

Tekla Structural Designer creates the column.

Create a continuous column in a 3D view

Create a continuous column between the points you pick.
  1. In the Properties window ensure Continuous is selected and other properties are set as required.
  2. Pick the start point.
  3. Pick the end point of stack 1.
  4. Pick the end point of stack 2.
  5. Continue picking points to add stacks.
  6. Pick the same point again to end the command.

Tekla Structural Designer creates the column.
