Folder search order
When you open a model, Tekla Structures searches for the associated files in specific folders in a set order.
It is important that you keep files in correct folders. Once Tekla Structures finds the associated files, it stops searching. This means that files that have the same name but are located lower down the search order are ignored.
The folder search order is:

Project |
Advanced option XS_PROJECT. If property files are stored in user-defined sub-folders under the project folder, Tekla Structures searches the sub-folders for files in alphabetical order. The first associated file is selected. After that, each file with the same file name suffix and file name prefix as the selected file is ignored. The names of the ignored files are stored in the error log. |
Firm |
Advanced option XS_FIRM. If property files are stored in user-defined sub-folders under the firm folder, Tekla Structures searches the sub-folders in alphabetical order. The first associated file is selected. After that, each file with the same file name suffix and file name prefix as the selected file is ignored. The names of the ignored files are stored in the error log. |

Do not store customized files in the system folder. That way, you will avoid having problems or doing a lot of unnecessary work when you upgrade to a newer version of the software.
