2021 SP6: New features, improvements, and important fixes

The latest Tekla Structures service pack and updated environment installers are available in Tekla Downloads.

Online licensing: New advanced option for keeping the license reserved

A new advanced option, XS_DEFAULT_KEEP_ONLINE_LICENSE_CHECKBOX, is introduced for setting the default value of the Keep this license reserved on this device check box in the closing confirmation message box. This advanced option must be set in an initialization (.ini) file. The default value is TRUE, which keeps the license reserved. If this advanced option is not set, or is set to TRUE, the check box is selected if you use a named license, or if you have selected to keep the license reserved in the previous Tekla Structures session. If you set this advanced option to FALSE, the Keep this license reserved on this device check box is never selected by default.

TSAC-1948 Concrete components

Floor layout: Geometry calculation has been improved in situations when openings are collinear but not overlapping to any edge at the seam.

TSAC-4103 Concrete components

Wall layout connector has been improved. Now the connector's L corners work for wall layouts with different top and bottom heights. The corner item's top and bottom are matching only where the walls connect.

TSAC-5099 Concrete components

Floor layout: Previously, holes and cuts that should have been created automatically were not created if the cutting part was located in the negative offset area, that is, outside the input polygon. This has now been fixed.

Hole generation (32): Rebar sets in a part will now be automatically cut.

TSAC-5737 Concrete components

Concrete beam-beam (112): You can now use the Create washers symmetrically setting on the Anchors tab to define whether the washers on the anchors are created symmetrically (mirrored) to the washers on the anchors at the opposite beam side.

TSAC-5753 Concrete components

Embedded Anchors (8): The Avoid reinforcement setting on the Placement tab now detects all rebars in collision with each created anchor and moves the anchors out of the collision with a cover thickness. Also, the detection works in the range of the anchor bounding box + the desired cover thickness.

TSAC-5808 Concrete components

Floor layout: Previously, when creating automatic cut-outs for I-shaped columns, only a small cut was created at one flange if the I shape web was not touching the slab. This has now been fixed.

TSAC-6072 Concrete components

Wall layout connector: Previously, the corner part was sometimes not created because the part profile was not correct. This has now been fixed.

TSAC-6073 Concrete components

Floor layout: The Floor layout dialog box now opens correctly when you specify that there are no UDAs listed on the User defined tab. Previously, you had to have at least one UDA on the User defined tab.

TSAC-5466 Steel components

Base plate (1042): Previously, the distances from the flange of the main part to the edge of the base plate were swapped in the component. This has now been fixed.

TSAC-5572 Steel components

Round tube (23): Previously, the fitting of the secondary part was created incorrectly in some orientations of the secondary part. This has now been fixed.

TSAC-5602 Steel components

TTSD-45311 Import, export, interoperability

Point clouds: The .tdx point cloud file format is now supported.

TTSD-46056 Import, export, interoperability

IFC4 export: It is now faster to export IFC files containing property sets reporting hierarchical information. For example, mapping a property set to report "POUR_UNIT.NAME" (the name of the pour unit that a rebar belongs to) would slow down the export tremendously. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-46577 Drawings

Recess symbols now work correctly in drawings also when the part representation is Base box.

TTSD-47191 Drawings

Printing: Previously, printing would fail if there were any errors in the TeklaStrutures.lin line type file, now any unrecognized lines will be ignored. Unrecognized line styles will be logged and drawn with a solid line, matching the drawing editor.

TTSD-47421 Drawings

Reading dimensioning rule files from relative folders using advanced options XS_FIRM and XS_PROJECT is now possible. For example, XS_FIRM=".\ts" can be used to read files from  the 'ts' folder inside the model folder.

TTSD-47570 Drawings

Printing: Symbols located in paths containing non-Latin characters did not always appear in printouts. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-47752 Drawings

Earlier, all reference models were handled when creating single-part drawings, which caused a performance issue. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-47839 Drawings

In the old Single-part drawing properties dialog box pressing the on/off button did not change the state of the Weld mark check box. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-47853 Drawings

Layout editor: The template width was not calculated correctly for a template with a variable number of columns, which caused the anchoring point to not adjust correctly. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-47863 Drawings

A staircase component has in one occasion caused invalid geometry to a part, causing the drawing containing the part to freeze during the drawing opening. This has now been prevented.

TTSD-48164 Drawings

Document Manager: Document Manager was not updated to reflect the file changes in the watched subfolders. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-48613 Drawings

Dimension associativity: Dimension associativity rules for weld preparation cuts now show a correct label instead of an empty text.

TTSD-48711 Drawings

Printing: Scaled hatch pattern lines with a delta Y of less than 0.01 mm caused hatching to fail to prevent excessive processing and hanging, which caused asserts when printing. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-46286, TTSD-48108 Modeling

Previously, splitting a lofted plate or a lofted slab using the Split command did not work. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-46883 Modeling

Previously, Tekla Structures handles were difficult to select. This has now been fixed, and the handle selection is easier.

TTSD-47169 Modeling

The log file for usage data, UserFeedbackLog.txt, is now stored in the Logs folder under the path defined with XSUSERDATADIR in teklastructures.ini file.

TTSD-47462 Modeling

Previously, modifying concrete panels could sometimes cause Tekla Structures to close suddenly. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-47792, TTSD-48445 Modeling

Previously, in the US Imperial environment, the maximum possible supported precision for bolt size was 1/16. This resulted in incorrect bolts being added to the model from the bolt catalog. Now the precision has been increased to 1/128.

TTSD-47798 Modeling

Previously, when using the Split command, the splitting of a part was not accurate if the picked point for splitting was outside the part. Now, dimensions and a preview is shown when a part is split, even from outside the part itself. For polybeams only dimensions are shown, not the preview.

TTSD-47983 Modeling

Previously, it was not possible to save or load surface treatment pattern properties or user-defined attributes in the property pane. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-48371 Modeling

Clash check manager now detects clashes between reference model objects and objects inside components.

TTSD-48510 Modeling

Sometimes when loading bolt properties from a file in the US metric environment, the bolt size was not set correctly in the property pane. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-48520 Modeling

Previously, deleting many selected objects was extremely slow. The performance problem causing this has now been fixed.

TTSD-48546 Modeling

Lofted plate geometry for antimaterial and addmaterial was removed during a database repair, if XS_DELETE_UNNECESSARY_INT_ARRAYS was set to TRUE. This led to corrupted antimaterial/addmaterial and to a failed solid of the part influenced by the antimaterial/addmaterial. This issue has now been fixed. Additionally, these errors are now reported when models with already removed geometry are being diagnosed.

TTSD-48751 Modeling

Previously, when using the Open properties command for grid lines on the contextual toolbar, both the old Grid line properties dialog box as well as the property pane was shown. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-47254 Installation

Previously, when trying to install an environment, there could be an error in .tsep file installation if the user's computer was configured to use a virtual desktop. The folder path to the virtual desktop could not be accessed and the .tsep package validation did not succeed. This issue has now been fixed and the installation now continues. Note that .tsep shortcuts cannot be created on the virtual desktop. If the .tsep requires a shortcut, instructions about adding the shortcut manually will be added to the installation log.
