Instance tracking
The purpose of instance tracking is to allow tracking of the history of each individual instance of a part. These instances are represented by instance numbers, from one to the total quantity of the part. Each instance number is associated with a sequence and lot number.
The instance tracking option can be set on each individual part.
Instance tracking provides heat number and purchase order traceability by the individual piece during the production and shipping stages, whatever the quantity.
Instance tracking allows for main member and accessories with multiple quantities to be tracked as individual instances.
You can manage instance tracking in the following ways:
- Set instance tracking in on the Input Settings tab in Production Control Company Standards. See Define company standard settings for Production Control
- Exclude a shape from instance tracking. See Manage shapes.
- Apply instance tracking to an item. See Add a production control item.
- When cutting a cut list item, define piece tracking properties. See Cut a cut list item.
- Include instance numbers in cut list reports. See Cut list reports
- Select Instance # in Production Status Filters. See View production status.
- When viewing a list of inspection test records, if any test records are included in the filter that have instance numbers associated with them, the Instance # column appears in the display grid. You can also include the instance numbers in reports. See View and modify inspection test records and Inspection test reports.
- When adding material to loads or recording information for completed items in piece tracking, you can view the parts that have instance numbers enabled in the IN column. See Add or preassign materials to a load and Track production by piece mark.
