Shoring Props Plugin

Image

This page contains instructions and documentation for using the Shoring Props plugin installed with the USA Formwork Tools TSEP package on the Tekla Warehouse.

Usage

Tool for creating shoring props and beams that would support a slab structure.  Can be used to create both props and beams or just an array of props.

After applying appropriate settings, pick two points:

  1. Pick first point to position origin of the first prop.
  2. Pick second point to define the total length to support.

User Interface

Descriptions of the property fields visible in the UI.  You can also hover over fields and more information is provided.

Props (Main tab)

  1. The Supplier.
  2. The Family which is dependent on selected Supplier.
  3. Creation Method if both beams and props are created:
    • No - Beam and props are created.
    • Yes - Only props are created.
  4. Select the name of the prop.  This is auto-populated based on the configuration file.  If Auto is selected, the best fit prop will be picked from all of the visible options.
  5. The overlap of the first beam from the centerline of the first prop.
  6. Enter the distance list of the props.  This is only used if 3 is set to Yes.
  7. Offsets the last prop from the end of the last beam, or the second point picked in creation.
  8. A distance list to create multiple parallel sets of beams/props.
  9. The total vertical height from bottom of prop to the top of beam.
  10. Text that shows what the minimum and maximum allowed heights are.  Changes based off of the Prop name.

Beams

  1. The name of the girder.
  2. Girder layout if multiple girders are to be placed for each span.
  3. How the girders should be adjusted.
    1.   Use minimum lap distance and all beams will be the name that was selected for the Girder.
    2. All lap distances are equal.
    3. Use minimum lap distance and have the end girder selected based off the remaining distance.
  4. Enter a distance list if customize the layout of the beams.
  5. Text that is visible to show allowed girder length values.  These do not need to be exact.  The entered length will find the closest length Girder from the list of Girders.
  6. Max prop spacing or maximum beam span distance.  Enter 0 if no extra props are created.  For example,  if you enter 14' as the max span and there is a prop supporting a beam with a spacing of 20', a prop will be placed at the center of the girder's span.

Other

  1. The name of the Head.
  2. Rotation of the Head.
  3. The name of the Brace.  Select none to not create braces.
  4. Vertical height of the connection points between the brace.
  5. Offset from the base of the prop to the first attachment point of the brace.
  6. The type of bracing.
  7. The name of the Tripod.
  8. The rotation of the Tripod.

Configuration *.PropShoring.csv

This section contains information and instructions to setup a new formwork configuration file for the Shoring Props plugin.  The file must end with .PropShoring.csv.

Preliminary Requirements

You must first define the formwork products to be useable with the Formwork Custom Part plugin and to be properly placed the must follow the Required Coordinate System section for that plugin's TUA page.

Units

Before the header row is defined for each parameter, there should be one row that defines the unit.  The format should be:

DISTANCE UNIT=INCH

After the equals (=) sign, use the distance type used for each of the parameter values.  Available unit types include: INCH, FT, FEET, MM, CM, DM, M.

Parameters

All Types (see Type parameter below) require Supplier, Family, Type, Name, and ProductName.  Other fields beyond those mentioned may be required and are mentioned below in the table.

Parameter Description and required fields (if applicable)
Supplier The name of the Supplier of the system.  Typically this will be the same value for each row.
Family The name of the Family of the system.  Typically this will be the same value for each row.
Type

The type of formwork element being defined.  Allowed values:

  • PROP
  • BEAM
  • HEAD
  • BRACE
  • TRIPOD
Name The name that will be visible in the UI.
ProductName The name of the product that matches the Supplier, Family and Name in the *Formwork.Products.csv file.  This can typically be the same value of the 'Name' property in the previous row above.
MinLength

The minimum length of a formwork element.  Required for the following types:

  • PROP
    • Minimum propping length.

MaxLength

The maximum length of a formwork element.  Required for the following types:

  • PROP
    • Maximum propping length for a single prop.

formwork prop max length
  • BEAM
    • Length of beam.

MinOverlap

The minimum overlap past the centerline of the prop.  Required for:

  • BEAM

Height

The height of an element.  Required for:

  • BEAM
    • Cross-section height of the beam used to adjust the total height.

  • HEAD
    • Height of the head or distance between the bottom of beam and top of the prop.

Width

The width of an element.  Required for:

  • BEAM
    • Cross-section width of the beam used to offset beam horizontally.
