Convert a multi-user model to a Tekla Model Sharing model
If you want to start using Tekla Model Sharing as a means to share your model instead of multi-user mode, you need to first convert your multi-user model to single-user model and then start to work with it in Tekla Model Sharing.
Note that a model cannot be simultaneously used in multi-user mode and be shared in Tekla Model Sharing.

First, convert the multi-user model to a single-user model.
You have different options for converting a multi-user model to a single-user model, depending on whether the model is currently open or not.
To convert the current, open model:

On the File menu, click Sharing > Convert to a single-user model.
The Convert to single-user model dialog appears.
- Click Convert.
To convert a multi-user model that is not currently open:

On the File menu, click Open > All models.

Select the multi-user model to be converted from the list of models.
- When the model properties are visible, click
Convert to single-user model.
The Convert to single-user model appears.

Click Convert.
To convert any multi-user model on the Tekla Structures start screen:

Start Tekla Structures.

On the Tekla Structures - Setup screen select the environment, role and configuration.

Click OK.
The start screen appears.

On the Recent or All models tab, select a multi-user model.
Multi-user models have
symbol in the Users column. -
Next to the Open button, click the arrow and select Convert to single-user model.
The Convert to single-user model dialog appears.

Click Convert.
The multi-user model is converted to a single-user model.

Then, start working in Tekla Model Sharing.

Open the single-user model you just converted.

On the File menu, click Sharing > Start sharing.
The Start sharing dialog opens.
- Select the service from the Service list.
- If needed, enter a Code and a Description for the model.
- In Model data storage location, select the location for the model data.
- Invite other users to share your model by typing their email addresses to the Invite users box, and set their user role to either Editor, Owner, Project viewer, or Viewer.
- Click the Add button to add the users to the model.
- Click the Start button to start sharing your model.
The model is saved and written out to the sharing service. You can now start using the model in Tekla Model Sharing.
