Assembly Main Part Selection
A careful selection of assemblies' main parts can save you lots of time in editing the drawings and can make the drawings easier to be understood by fabricators.
For example, the below beam assembly:
To review the main part of an assembly, use the Inquire tool with the 'Inquire Assembly Objects' option. Review clip below.
Case 1:
If you select the beam as the Main Part of the assembly, then you can expect to get similar results in the assembly drawing like the below snapshot:
Case 2:
But if you have accidentally selected the endplate as the Main part of the assembly, then you can expect to have similar results like the below snapshot:
Conclusion:
If you see above in the first case, you will realize that the views are organized nicely and clear, a meaningful front view in the middle and sections on the sides, and above it is the top view.
But if you look at the second case, you will note that it's a bit confusing. Which one is the front view? Is section A-A needed in that way? And some running dimensions coming in the left view have no meaning.
Always check your assemblies' main parts before creating drawings.
