Question:
When you add reinforcement to a part, it is possible to select the material and whether the reinforcement type is main or tie/stirrup. When you add reinforcement to a part that will be used inside a custom component, you can only select tie/stirrup. Is it possible to modify this?
Answer:
There is one way to modify the reinforcement type in a custom component.
When you give new parameters to the custom component, such as dimension or material, the changes are recorded in the componentname.inp file in the model folder, C:\TeklaStructuresModels\Model name\CustomComponentDialogFiles
You can change the type from stirrup to main as shown in the picture. Save the file and close the model. When you reopen the model, you can check from the component catalog that the type of the rebar has changed to main.
