Engineering library (Eurocode Design)

The following Eurocode design engineering library calculations have been significantly updated for Tedds 2021.

Steel to concrete simple connection design (EN1993)

Video Demonstration

New calculation which checks the design of a simply supported steel beam connected to a steel plate embedded in a concrete wall or column via a welded fin plate. The connection is checked for shear and tying design forces in accordance with EN1993 and the national annexes for the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia, Finland, Norway, Sweden or the recommended Eurocode values.

Steel to simple connection design (EN1993)

Video Demonstration

Enhanced the existing calculation to incorporate the design of beam to column full depth end plates. The connection is checked for shear and tying design forces and automatically sizes the connection for the specified beam size. In accordance with EN1993 and the national annexes for the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia, Finland, Norway, Sweden or the recommended Eurocode values.

Steel masonry support (EN1993)

Video Demonstration

Checks the bending, deflection and fixings of a steel beam support masonry. The support beam can be designed as a stainless steel cold formed angle, a mild steel angle in simple bending or a flat plate welded to the underside of a torsion beam. Bolt and weld capacities are also checked where applicable. In accordance with EN1993 and the national annexes for the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia, Finland, Norway, Sweden or the recommended Eurocode values.

Timber frame racking loads (EN1991)

Video Demonstration

New calculation which calculates the racking forces due to lateral wind loads on the walls and roof of a multi-storey building that is rectangular in plan and has a flat roof, monopitch roof, duopitch roof or hipped roof. These loads are to be resisted by timber frame panels at each floor. In accordance with EN1991 and the national annex for the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Finland, Sweden, Norway or the recommended Eurocode values.

Steel beam supporting Hollowcore slab design (EN1993)

Video Demonstration

New calculation which checks the design of a single span, simply supported, rolled I or H, ASB or Slimflor beam at multiple stages of the construction phase. In accordance with EN1993 and the national annex for the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia, Finland, Sweden, Norway or the recommended Eurocode values.

Foundation analysis & design (EN1992/EN1997)

Video demonstration

Significantly enhanced calculation which incorporates numerous improvements including:

  • Improved user interface for a more intuitive and interactive experience

  • Easier to design unreinforced pad or strip foundations

  • Include nominal reinforcement for otherwise unreinforced foundations

  • Include snow and wind loads

  • Specify leading and accompanying actions

  • Partial factors can be user defined

  • Option to include the passive resistance in the sliding check

  • Use mesh reinforcement

  • Specify bars by number required or spacing

  • Specify different cover for the top, bottom and sides of the foundation

  • Include a summary results table in the output

  • Modify the title used in the output

  • User defined notes can be included in the output

  • Pad and Strip examples added to the Batch design for the foundation stability checks

Steel beam torsion design (EN1993)

Video Demonstration

New calculation which checks the design of a single span, simply supported beam, subject to major and minor axis moments and shears with a torsional UDL and up to four torsional point loads. The beam can be designed using rolled I and H sections, asymmetric sections, channel sections, rectangular or circular hollow sections. In accordance with EN1993 and the national annex for the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia, Finland, Sweden, Norway or the recommended Eurocode values.

Precast concrete hollowcore slab design (EN1992)

Video Demonstration

New calculation which checks the design of a precast concrete Hollowcore slab for a simply supported, single span Hollowcore slab under uniform area loads. Checks for flexure, shear, splitting and deflection are included. The calculation uses the methodology set out by British Precast and is In accordance with EN1992, EN1168 and the national annex for the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia, Finland, Norway, Sweden or the recommended Eurocode values.

Precast concrete grouted sleeve splice design (EN1992)

Video Demonstration

New calculation which checks the design of a precast grouted sleeve splice connection. A column to column, column to foundation or beam to column joint can be defined. In accordance with EN1992 and the national annex for the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia, Finland, Norway, Sweden or the recommended Eurocode values.

Crane gantry girder design (EN1993)

Enhanced to allow for designs using flat bar rails. Output enhanced to include the results for the factored and unfactored end reactions.

High grade steel strengths up to S700

The following calculations have been enhanced to allow for designs using high grade steel strengths up to S700.
