Share local or network content using Tekla Warehouse

You can share collections that are on your computer or on a network drive using Tekla Warehouse.

You can create and use local or network collections when you want to control the access rights of your content. You can use your company network or a commercial file storage and synchronization service, such as Dropbox or Google Drive, to share content.

Before you start:

  1. Create a new folder on your company network or on your computer's sharing folder.

    For example: C:\Users\username\Dropbox\My_new_folder

  2. Copy the folder path to clipboard.
  3. In Tekla Warehouse , create a local or network collection as instructed in Create a collection in Tekla Warehouse.
    1. Enter a name for the collection.
    2. Paste the copied folder path from clipboard.
    3. Click Add to create the collection.
  4. Add the content you want to share to the collection as instructed in Uploading content to Tekla Warehouse.

To share a local or network collection:

  1. Go to the file sharing service you want to use for sharing.
  2. Share your sharing folder with the selected users.
  3. Instruct the users to create a collection in Tekla Warehouse using the shared folder path.


  1. Share the collections.json file. The file is located in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Tekla\Tekla Warehouse\.
  2. Ask the other users of the local collections to save the collections.json file in the corresponding location on their computers.
Share content on a network drive
  1. Ensure that the access rights of the folder you are sharing are sufficient.
  2. E-mail the folder path to your colleagues.
  3. Instruct your colleagues to create a network collection in Tekla Warehouse using the folder path.
