Pile catalogue

The Pile Catalogue is used to add or edit pile dimensions and capacities.

To open the dialog:

  1. Click the Foundations tab.
  2. Click Pile Catalogue.
The Pile Catalogue dialog is displayed.

Volume adjustment

There are many and varied piling systems. Although a theoretical diameter and length are input, in practice these can be minimums or approximations.

A volume adjustment can therefore be applied to allow different systems to be catered for.

Example - an in-situ under-reamed piling system might be given an adjustment >> 100%

Reinforcement grade For concrete, the reinforcement grade is selected by clicking […]
Reinforcement Volume % If you set a percentage > 0% the calculated mass of reinforcement will be able to be used when calculating reinforcement ECFs.

See the below note for further details.

Reinforcement Mass Calculated using the above volume %.
Note: Reported carbon for cast-in-place concrete piles
There are two options available:
  • Option 1 - Simplest

    • Treat in the same was as precast - apply a single factor that allows for both concrete and rebar.
    • Can use the existing “precast” ECF, or more likely create one specifically for piles.
  • Option 2 - Treat concrete and rebar separately:

    • Edit appropriate ECFs in the concrete category to activate the Pile variant in the Entity filter.
    • In the Pile Catalogue set a reinforcement % for each pile. The resulting reinforcement mass will then be used to calculate the embodied carbon mass of the pile reinforcement. This can then be picked up by appropriate reinforcement ECFs in the reinforcement category.
