Tekla PowerFab fundamentals
This course covers the fundamentals of Tekla PowerFab, a suite of Trimble products - Tekla PowerFab Office, Tekla PowerFab Go, Trimble Connect and Tekla Structures Graphite - connected together to provide a platform, teaching steel fabricators how to:
● manage their projects and workflows in desktop and mobile applications;
● access the centralized database and share information across the entire project team;
● produce accurate estimate models, analyze the fabrication model and generate all of the required outputs for the workshop.
The course is split into individual modules, allowing new users of the software to learn the areas of the system relevant to their role at their own pace, and provides existing users a useful reference guide.
Module 1: Getting to know Tekla PowerFab
This module is mandatory for all users wishing to complete the course, as it covers some of the key fundamentals of how Tekla PowerFab works, from navigating the user interface to using common features such as applying filters and running reports.
Module 2: Estimating
This module provides tools to create quick, consistent and comprehensive estimates to assist in your bidding process. In this module, we will explore how these tools are used, from creating a simple material take-off all the way through to generating a detailed cost breakdown.
Module 3: Project management
This module should be completed by all users who undertake elements of project management in their day to day role, even if it may not be their primary responsibility.
Module 4: Detailing exports and imports
In this module, we will focus on how the model data is exported from the 3D model and subsequently imported into Tekla PowerFab at both the preliminary, or advanced bill of materials (ABM) stage, and at issue for fabrication stage.
Module 5: Inventory
In this module, we will explore some of the tools to help manage and maintain the inventory. Some elements of the inventory functionality are available in PowerFab Go, however these are not covered in this course.
Module 6: Purchasing
In this module, we will begin by covering the basic principles of purchasing whilst creating and receiving a manual purchase order. Following this, we will review how to use both an advanced bill of materials and a fabrication-issue bill of materials to optimize and order the required materials for a project.
Module 7: Production
This module provides a simple yet comprehensive platform to manage the entire production process, offering complete control and visibility of a project’s fabrication and shipping status.
