Model Sharing: Cannot do write out

Problem & symptoms: When I press the write out button, nothing happens. I've tried to re-start Tekla Structures and I've even re-installed the software completely but the write out still doesn't work. However, I can read in other users' changes.

Cause: This could happen if the attributes of the user.config file are set to "read-only" or "hidden". Please check the modelsharing.log file. It should contain errors such as listed below:

ERROR: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Failed to save settings: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Unable to open file 'C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Trimble\TeklaStructures.exe_StrongName_03eects4y11wbwbyo4vxmp1h3dd52tzg\2020.0.0.0\user.config' for writing because it is read-only or hidden. (C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Trimble\TeklaStructures.exe_StrongName_03eects4y11wbwbyo4vxmp1h3dd52tzg\2020.0.0.0\user.config) ---> System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Unable to open file 'C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Trimble\TeklaStructures.exe_StrongName_03eects4y11wbwbyo4vxmp1h3dd52tzg\2020.0.0.0\user.config' for writing because it is read-only or hidden. (C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Trimble\TeklaStructures.exe_StrongName_03eects4y11wbwbyo4vxmp1h3dd52tzg\2020.0.0.0\user.config) ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to open file 'C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Trimble\TeklaStructures.exe_StrongName_03eects4y11wbwbyo4vxmp1h3dd52tzg\2020.0.0.0\user.config' for writing because it is read-only or hidden.

Solution: You should browse to the file location, check the file properties and un-tick the read-only and/or hidden options if they are ticked. By default, they shouldn't be ticked. Then re-start Tekla Structures. Write out should now work again.
