Using an older multi-user server with newer Tekla Structures version

Can I use Tekla Structures version 2020 multi-user server for newer Tekla versions? Why that server installation is not available for newer versions at the Downloads service?

The multi-user server has been designed to be backward and forward compatible. The same multi-user server version 2.5.0 that is compatible with Tekla Structures 2020 will also work with the newer and older Tekla Structures versions. The underlying functionality of the multi-user server has not seen drastic changes.

The primary reason you don't see the multi-user server as a download for newer Tekla Structures versions is the shift towards more flexible and robust collaboration methods, specifically Tekla Model Sharing. Trimble is encouraging users to migrate from the traditional multi-user server setup to Tekla Model Sharing.

Trimble is focusing its development and support efforts on Tekla Model Sharing as the primary solution for collaborative work. The multi-user server remains a functional option for teams working in a single office location, but you will find that most of the new development and features are made for Tekla Model Sharing.
