How do I modify Word settings so hidden calculations will toggle on/off when using Show/Hide?

Solution

The reason hidden text is still visible when unchecking the 'Hidden Calcs' option is because hidden text is turned on in Word Options. To turn off hidden text in your Word Options click File > Word Options in the bottom of that menu. In Word 2007, 2010, and 2013 this will be under the Word button in the top left corner of your screen. Under the display tab make sure that the box next to Hidden text is turned off as shown in the Word Options image.

This will give the 'Hidden Calc' option in the Show/Hide menu under the Tedds ribbon full control to toggle on and off hidden text.
Note: some equations and calculations were written using a hidden font in Word. You will only be able to view this type of text by turning on the hidden text option in the Word file menu.
