Question:
Is it possible to turn off only the highlighting of a reference model in the model view, or give the reference model better visibility?

Answer:
You cannot turn off the highlighting of a reference model, but in some cases it is useful to change the reference model color so that you can more easily see which objects are reference model objects and which objects are Tekla Structures objects. You can change the reference object representation in the View Properties, in the Object Representation dialog box. Create a new Object group for reference objects: "Object - Object type - Equals - Reference object"

Then define a suitable color and transparency and place the object group above the object group All. Save the group with a unique name and select it in the View Properties dialog box.

Another option for disabling the highlighting is to create a selection filter with the following rule:
"Reference object - Id number - does not equal - id of the reference model"
This is a good solution because if you cannot select a certain object, then highlighting will not work on that object either.
