I need more characters in my report
This article will explain the process needed to give your report more characters for a specific value, such as a part mark. We will be using a report from the US Imperial environment as an example.
First, you will need to open the template editor and find the report you are having an issue with. In this example, we will be using the 350 Material List report from the US Imperial environment. To open the template editor, go to Drawings & Reports > Template Editor in older versions, and File menu > Editors > Template Editor in the new interface.
Next, we need to find the Material list report and open it. In the Template Editor go to File > Open and navigate to the default location C:\ProgramData\TeklaStructures\<version>\Environments\usimp\us_roles\steel\system in versions prior to 2019, and C:\TeklaStructures\2019.1\Environments\USA\Common\Steel\Reports in later versions. You will see all the default Steel templates, and from there, you should find the 350 Material List.
The opened template should look similar to the image below.
Next, we increase the size of the Profile value field. First, we increase the width of the overall page. To do this, double click on the template's background, which will open the page properties. There we can change the Output Width.
Now that we can move the data to the right side of the profile field, we can increase the profile output's width, as the image below shows.
Then, we can increase the size of the profile field. To do this, double click on the value field Profile_field. Next, adjust the Length to 25 and click OK.
The end result should look like this:
Finally, click Save.
Please note that it is important to save your report in a firm folder because otherwise, you will lose your work when updating your service pack. If you need help setting up your firm folder, click here.
