Question: I know I can switch Direct Modification on or off in a model, but is there a way to switch it off by default in all new models?
Answer: The default value for Direct Modification comes from xs_user.default file under environment's system folder. To turn Direct Modification on or off by default in all new models, you will need to change the value of file menu switch DIMA in the xs_user.default file. The possible values are 0 for off, and 1 for on. After model has been created the value is stored under model folder in xs_user.[username].
If the environment you are using doesn't have xs_user.default file, Tekla Structures reads the value from Common environment of that version, for example: C:\ProgramData\Tekla Structures\2016i\Environments\common\system
