Question:
I have been sent a *.db1 file named "New Model 230". How can I open it?

Answer:
Tekla Structures model database *.db1 files need to have the same name as the model folder under which it is located. This is the main file that you need to open a Tekla Structures model.

To open it in Tekla Structures, you need to create a folder that will be designated as the model folder. This folder must have an identical name to the *.db1 file, including special characters, spaces, and capitalization. In this case, the model folder needs to be named "New Model 230". In Tekla Structures, click (File)>Open>All models... and browse to the model folder and press Select Folder button. This will open the model.

Tip:

You can use this same principle to rename a Tekla Structures model, but in this case, in addition to the *.db1 file, you also need to rename the *.db2 file located in the model folder.
