Trimble Connect extension Import CSV allows the import of custom properties which were exported via the Data table in the 3D Viewer and edited in a program capable of working with the CSV file, e.g. Microsoft Excel.

Use for

Import of custom properties.

Before you start

1. Open your model in the 3D Viewer.

2. Create custom properties.

  • Select objects for which you want to create custom properties and open the properties panel.

NOTE: If you are unsure how to create custom properties or manage Property Set Libraries in Trimble Connect, please refer to the following article: https://docs.workflowextensions.connect.trimble.com/property-set-libraries.

  • Use the options "Manage property set libraries" for creating customized property set, and "Add properties" for selecting the property set and adding it to selected objects.

3. Export properties to CSV file. 

  • Add the properties to export including the GUID to the Data table by using the "Add or remove properties" dialog window (the button "Columns").

  •  Export selected properties to the CSV file format.

4. Edit properties. 

  • Use Microsoft Excel or an alternative software to edit the exported data in the CSV format.

  • Data edited this way are ready to be imported back to the model using the "Import CSV" extension.

  •  Select the CSV file with edited custom properties.

  • Based on the GUID, the extension finds the objects which should have the properties modified. Objects which have the properties modified turn red.
  • After the import of the edited properties, the user gets the information whether the data were imported without errors. In the Import log, the user can check, which property set were edited and which properties were modified. In case of an error, the data which could not be imported are highlighted with red color and the warning message appears.

  • As a result, the properties were modified in the properties panel.

Numbers

Imported numbers should not contain any text-related characters. Only numbers without formatting are supported.
