CATALOG NAME: 2 Sided Beam to Beam - MC (One NSC); 2 Sided Beam to Beam - MC (2 NSC)
TYPE: CONNECTION
This Custom Component is used to connect two beams that frame into a supporting beam with top and bottom flange plates. This custom component uses nested system components to connect the beam web to the column.
2 Sided Beam to Beam MC (2 NSC) – for use when two nested system components are used, such as 146 to connect the webs.
2 Sided Beam to Beam MC (One NSC) – for use when one nested system component is used, such as 143 to connect the webs.
Any of the common beam to column flange system components can be used.
Example with beams of varying depths.

Plates
It is important with this component that the correct framing condition is selected on the Picture tab before the component is applied in the model. The main drop-down menu allows you to select the framing condition you want to apply it to.
Only after the condition is selected should the component be applied in the model.
Plates 1
The top flange plate can be shaped either as a rectangle, or with tapered sides to match the beam flange. Select the desired shape by using the drop-down menu. Choosing different options will enable dialogs to control the dimensions of the shaped plate.
Most part controls are self-explanatory, but note that some fields may be grayed out depending on the framing condition option selected on the Picture tab.
There are two options for the bottom beam flanges.
Option 1 - No Filler Plate - Erection Clearance
Option 2 - Use Filler Plate
Plates 2
This tab is only used if a bottom flange plate on the primary is used. If both secondary beams are a smaller depth than the primary, the fields on this tab will be grayed out.
Use the drop-down menu to change the plate shape if desired.
Upper/Lower Bolts
The bolt controls are self-explanatory. Starting in v2017, slot controls are available.
Welds
Most controls are self-explanatory, however it is important to note that just changing the weld type for the bottom plate to supporting beam web does not create preparation cuts – there is a separate drop-down menu and controls for the angle and root face.
