Goal and description

This application allows you to run a command for element creation in a Tekla Structures model view (Steel column, Contour plate, Concrete beam…). A pre-saved setting is automatically loaded in the dialogue box according to the type of object.

- Select the different levels of definition for the element to be created

- Click on the 'Call function' button available when all levels have been selected.

- The creation command (Steel column, Contour plate, Concrete beam...) is displayed on the right side panel and the parameters are loaded in the dialog box.

- Create the element in the model view

The object definition levels and the choice of files to be loaded are managed in a Excel format configuration file.

Changing the settings file

By default, the application uses the configuration file Environments\common\Extensions\PartSettings\Trimble_PartSettings.xlsx

This file can be copied to another folder (Model folder, XS_FIRM,...) and renamed. Use the 'Load configuration' button in the dialog box to load the file.

If necessary, you can:

- Select the English language at the top of the table (translation of the drop-down list of functions)

- Insert new rows and/or columns (new rows must be copied from an existing row to get the drop-down list of functions). The columns on the right of the table are for information only. They are not taken into account in the dialog box

- Merge cells when necessary (if several possibilities for the next level)

- Keep empty cells for a better distribution of the columns (in this case, the level will not be displayed in the dialogue box)

- Give a title to the column (this title will be displayed in the dialogue box)

For each line, you must then choose the function from the drop-down list (Steel column, Contour plate, Concrete beam,...) and type in the name of the parameter file that you have defined for the creation of the element.

Note: For an optimal performance of the application, do not merge the cells of the column 'File name' but copy the content of the cell.
