System component Unfold cold rolled profiles (22) can be used to unfold parametric profiles as a polyplate or as loose plates. The goal is to create an unfolding: of a polybeam an unfolded drawing can be created. Beside the shape also part cuts and holes are taken into account.

Situation Description

Profile: CC200-5-35-100, l = 1000 mm.

See 2 situations above.

The tool creates an unfolding,

including holes and part cuts.

Situation A: Polyplate PL5*1000,

this one can be unfolded.

Situation B: 5 loose plates.

Those plates can be connected using a bent so an unfolding can be created.

Before you start

Model a profile.

Selection order

1. First, the numbering should be up to date.
2. Select the profile.
3. Activate the tool.
4. Select the position in the model where the unfolding should be created.

Main tab

tab main.png

Tab Main can be used to define which parametric folded profiles would be converted to new folded polybeams or loose plates. Also the position in the model can be defined.

Option Description
1

List with options to define which parametric profiles should be converted. The options are:

  • All parts
All parametric folded profiles will be converted.
  • selected parts
All selected parametric folded profiles will be converted.
  • Parts having class
Parametric folded profiles having a certain class will be converted. The class number used can be defined in filed 2
  • Parts having phase
Parametric folded profiles having a certain phase will be converted. The phase number used can be defined in filed 2
3

List with options to define the way the part should be converted. The options are:

  • As polygon plate (situation A).
  • As loose plates (situation B).

4

Certain properties of the original part can be replaced. Once a field left empty the original property will be used.

Next properties can be replaced:

  • Part Prefix- and Start number
  • Assembly Prefix- and Start number
  • Material
  • Name
  • Class

Example:

5

Define the reference line of the new converted profile. The options are:

  • Middle
  • Front
  • Behind

This setting only affects the position of the reference line. The dimensions of the new converted profile are always identical compared to the original profile.

Example:

6

Possibility to define the position of the converted part(s) in the model, related to the position in the model of the original part or not.

The option Position has 2 options:

  • Input point
Select a point in the model where you want to have the converted part(s).
  • Offset
Select a point in the model. In case a X, Y or Z-value is defined, there will be an Offset related to the selected point.

7

List with options for identical parts. Do you want to have a copy for all, or just a copy for one? The options are:

  • No
  • Yes

8

This option is for profiles with variable thickness of each segments. With this option you can specify tolerance in which the thickness of each segments could be and it will get unfolded. Otherwise component strictly requires the same thickness of each segment.

9 Define the prefix of the new converted part or plates. The standard prefix is PL.
10

Copy attached parts. The options are:

  • No
  • Yes

Attached parts (so not welded parts, but attached parts) taken into account in the unfolding. Option 3 works in combination with this option. In this example a polygon plate is used.

11 This option is only available in case "As loose plates" has been chosen using option 3.

UDA tab

tab uda.png

The fields in this tab can be used to move information or UDA's from the original part to the converted part.

The 4 fields on the left side offer the possibility to copy profile info to the UDA of the converted profile.

The fields on the right side offer the possibility to copy UDA's from original part to converted profile.

Examples:

Profile, Part position, Assembly position, Number of parts: use an existing UDA, for example USER_FIELD_1, USER_FIELD_2, USER_FIELD_3 and USER_FIELD_4.

After running the component result will be like in the picture below.

In case UDA "Comment" should be copied to new converted profile, use “comment”.
