This documentation page provides an overview of the extension package for timber object types in Tekla Structures. This extension installs basic timber modeling components, including timber beams, timber columns, timber plates, timber walls, and timber slabs. Each timber object type is modeled similarly to its steel or concrete counterpart, with specific properties and parameters unique to timber objects.

Install the Timber objects from the Tekla Warehouse.
Benefit of timber objects are:
- Easy to find dedicated tools for timber modeling
- Ability to customize a dedicated attribute files for modeling tools
- Specific properties that are relevant only for timber
- Ability to find all timber object types based on a filter
Timber Object Types
Timber Beam
- Modeling: Similar to a basic steel beam.
- Properties: Defined in the property pane.
Timber Column
- Modeling: Similar to a basic steel column.
- Properties: Defined in the property pane.
Timber Panel
- Modeling: Similar to a steel plate.
- Properties: Defined in the property pane.
Timber Wall
- Modeling: Similar to a concrete panel.
- Profile Definition: Defined by wall thickness and height.
- Properties: Wall thickness [B] and height [H] as separate properties. Properties form a profile that is [H]*[B]

Timber Slab
- Modeling: Similar to a beam, with start and end points.
- Profile Definition: Defined by slab thickness [B] and width [W].
- Properties: Slab thickness and width are visible in the property pane. Properties form a profile that is [B]*[W]
Special Timber Properties
All timber objects have the following special properties:
- Lamella Direction
- Options: Longitudinal or Crossing.
- Description: Longitudinal is in the profile direction, and Crossing is 90 degrees from that.
- Property name: LamellaDirection

- Surface Finish
- Description: Defines the surface finish of the timber object.
- For example: ARCHITECTURAL
- Property name: SurfaceQuality
- Product Code
- Description: Unique code for the timber product.
- For example: 5S
- Property name: ProductCode
- Lamella Thickness
- Description: Thickness of the lamella layers in the timber object.
- For example: 40 40 40 40 40
- Lamella thickness affects to numbering
- Note! Thickness is calculated from Lamella thickness values
- Property name: LamellaThickness
Custom Object Types
- Custom Object: Timber objects are created using custom objects.
- Filter: Custom objects can be used in filters by using the property name in filter: __CustomObjectType = TimberBeam, TimberColumn, TimberPanel, TimberWall, TimberSlab
Use together with Wall Layout or Floor Layout: Expose the UDA "__CustomObjectType" to be visible and use the value TimberSlab for slabs or TimberWall for walls

- Assembly Level: Not specific; Is inherited from steel or concrete depending the material category of the main part.
User-defined attributes (UDA’s)
Timber objects will have the same UDA’s as defined for steel or concrete beams or plates.
