Purpose and description

This tool is developed for users of Tekla Structures, Tekla PowerFab, or any EPM drawing tracking application where one drawing per assembly or single-part mark is required. Since multiple sheets per drawing are not allowed in these workflows, this tool enables users to combine multi-sheet PDF drawings into single-sheet drawings, helping streamline processes and save time. Refer to the images below.

System requirements

  • NET Framework version: 4.8+
  • Tekla Structures Version: Does not require Tekla Structures. It is a standalone application. However, for easy access tool installed to the Tekla Structures Default Extension Directory.

How to Install Tekla PDF Drawing Combiner

Using the Extension Manager in Tekla Structures, install the *.tsep package from the Tekla Warehouse download link above.

  • In the Applications & components catalog, click  → Manage extensions → Extension Manager.

  • Click Import, then browse to the .tsep installer you want to install.
  • Click Open.

The imported extension is installed the next time that you start Tekla Structures. It is shown in the Tekla Structures extension manager and is ready for use in the Applications & components catalog.

Once installed, the application can be found under the Application & Components category of the ME Extension group.

Prerequisites

Before using the extension, ensure that you have print PDF drawing from Document Manger into plot folder.

UI Functions Information:

  1. Text Box: Paste or type the folder path that contains the PDF drawings.
  2. Browse (...): Opens a file dialog to select a PDF file. The folder containing the selected file will be used as the folder path in the text box. Note: You must select at least one file to retrieve the folder path.
  3. Combine Multi Sheet: Groups drawings where there is additional sheets per assembly or part drawing and combines each group into a single PDF file.
  4. All PDF to Single PDF: Merges all PDF files in the selected folder into one single PDF. The output path is taken from the text box.
  5. Open Folder: Opens the folder specified in the text box using File Explorer.

Release Notes

Version 2.0:

  • Fixed a file naming issue in which PDFs with names such as A1.pdf, A1 - 1.pdf, and A11.pdf were incorrectly combined. This logic has been corrected.
  • Fixed a bug in which PDFs were not combined if the file name included the drawing title. This issue has now been fixed.
  • Progress indicators have been added below each button to visually reflect the status of PDF processing processes.
