1. Purpose and description
The Save Grid To File extension allows the user to save and load grid(s) that can't be saved in the out-of-the-box grid dialog box. This includes directly modified grids and individually added grid lines.

3. Installation
To install the application:
- Make sure Tekla Structures is closed.
- Install the appropriate installation package that you can download from the Tekla Warehouse.
- Open Tekla Structures
- Before version 2016: A new toolbar icon which will launch the tool should now be visible when a model is opened. For 2016 version and newer: a new thumbnail in the Applications and components side pane will appear.Image
4. Usage
- Launch the tool by clicking icon/thumbnail.Image
- Highlight the grid(s) that should be saved for future use and then click Save Grid Data. (If no grid is selected then all the grids in the model will be caputred and stored in the xml file)
- A Save As dialog box will appear that will allow you to name and save the file in the desired location. Name the xml file and Click Save. (The default location is in the attributes folder of the current model folder).
- Click Create Grid From File to load into the model a previously saved grid.
- Browse to and highlight the xml file and click Open.
- The grid will then be inserted into the model.
5. Additional Information
- You can select single or multiple grid systems (or by default all grid systems in the model) and save the grid plane data. If you need the systems to remain independent then you should save each system individually and re-create from the saved files.
