Problem: Almost all fields are empty in Hole Reservation Manager table.

Answer:
Functioning of Hole Reservation Manager is based on common agreements set for BIM software developers. If the imported IFC model is not produced by the rules defined in the agreements, Hole Reservation Manager will not be able to interpret the file correctly. This leads in data fields left empty even though the model itself looks fine.

To find out whether the IFC file is valid for Hole Reservation Manager, select a single object in the reference model and click Inquire. The attributes from which Hole Reservation Manager gathers information are listed in custom attributes and they all begin with words Pset_ProvisionForVoid. If the IFC object's attributes are named differently (or even don't exist), they will not be read into Hole Reservation Manager.

If the MEP designer is using MagiCAD, you can provide them this document to help them export their model in correct format.

Problem: Hole Reservation Manager does not convert IFC custom attributes to User Defined Attributes of the VOIDs.

Answer:
Please check that you have at least the mapping file HoleReservationAttributeMapping.ini located and correctly configured in the <model>\attributes folder. Hole Reservation Manager cannot convert attributes without this file. You can download the package "ATTRIBUTE_REPORT_UI_FILES_FOR_TS2016_AND_NEWER" which contains the conversion file from Tekla Warehouse.

Problem: Error message System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array pops up when clicking Hole-button

Answer:
The ifc-model has probably been exported incorrectly. Hole Reservation Manager needs the geometry of the cut parts defined with specific Pset_ProvisionForVoid -property sets on the ifc model. Without this information it can't create the void object or the cutting part.

Problem: Hole Reservation Manager won't create a report from selected hole objects. Instead it pops up an error: Report file missing. Reference_model_comments.

Answer:
Please download and install "ATTRIBUTE_REPORT_UI_FILES_FOR_TS2016_AND_NEWER" package from Tekla Warehouse. The report files (*.rpt) from the package can be installed in the model folder (in the main model folder, not any sub-folder) or your firm folder. Then create the report again.

Problem: Why isn't the Status defined in the Revit imported from IFC-file to the Hole Reservation Manager Status field?

Answer:
Status value, which is visible in the Hole Reservation Manager dialog box, is defined in Tekla Structures, in the Hole Reservation Manager dialog box.

So status value cannot be read from any other software (for example from Revit). This is the meaning of Tekla Structures/Hole Reservation Manager. The workflow is that Tekla Structures user defines the status, for example “accepted”.

Other UDA-values can be read from IFC void object (for example from Revit IFC file) and make them visible in the Hole Reservation Manager dialog box. So for example you can define a new UDA "RevitStatus" to the dialog box and then read the value from the IFC file. Then you get the status given in Revit visible to the dialog box. But the actual, real status will be given in Tekla Structures, for example accepted=1. And if later the IFC void object moves or changes, then Tekla Structures automatically changes the status to Revised=5 and Tekla Structures user checks the situation again. This is the idea of the Hole Reservation Manager.
