You use the HM Export (ML031) system component to generate production data for H&M woodworking machines.

The H&M file format describes the face of the wood profile, which lies on the sawing machine's table top, viewed from above. The contour is essentially described by a length and internal and external angles at four points along the outer contour. In the image below, the four relevant points are labelled 1, 2, 3, and 4. The red line through the four points represents the contour being described:

SW = the width of the profile's gross cross-section (usually the b value of the Tekla Structures cross-section dimension)

GSH = the height of the profile's gross cross-section (usually the h value of the Tekla Structures cross-section dimension)

Generally, an H&M sawing machine can only process the cuts on the ends of the timber profile (optionally, some machines can also drill and notch).

File type:

H&M machines can handle both *.lst and *.csv files. Both file types can be exported from this tool.

If a *.csv file contains data from multiple timber profiles, the software on the H&M machine can optimize these profiles to minimize material loss. The optimized file created by the H&M machine software is also a so-called *.lst file.

Please note: A *.lst file created by the H&M export tool does not contain any optimization! A *.lst file contains information with various parameters that are tailored to specific machine types. A *.csv file, on the other hand, contains information about the wood profile operations that are machine independent. Therefore, it is recommended to use the *.csv file format.

General tab

Use the "General" tab to define the name and location of the H&M export, the machine type, or grouping.

OPTIONDESCRIPTION
Export

Decide which parts should be exported.

Options:

  • Selected parts
  • All parts
Filter operation

Options:

  • Filter is not used
  • Exclude filtered parts
  • Only filtered parts
Filter-
File content

Define whether all parts should be written to one export file or whether an export file should be created per assembly.

Options:

  • All parts in one file
  • A file per assembly number
  • A file per cross section

Tally parts

Define whether the exported data should be grouped.

Options:

  • No
  • Yes, ignore assemblies
  • Yes, per assembly

If the "No" option (default) is selected, the wood profiles will not be grouped. This means that each profile is always written to a separate line. If the "Yes" option is selected, the same wood profiles will be grouped with the corresponding quantity.

Example

P1: number = 10.

P2: number = 5.

P3: number = 2.

Option = No:

Precision for distancesMachine dependent parameter. Define the number of decimal places for distances.
Precision for anglesMachine dependent parameter. Define the number of decimal places for angles.
Export assembly Nr from

Options:

  • Actual part assembly number
  • Main part assembly number
H&M file versionDefine the H&M file version. Currently, only version 2.00 is available.
H&M machine type

Define the machine type.

Options:

  • M311
  • HMT/HMZ
Show log

Decide whether a log file should be shown during export.

Options:

  • Yes - enable the Show log file content, Show event types, and Overwrite log file options.

Show event types

When Show log is set to Yes, this option becomes available, allowing to specify the type of message to be displayed in the log file.

Options:

  • All - Info, Warning, and Error messages are displayed.
  • INFO - only information regarding successful exports of BTL processes is displayed.
  • WARNING
  • ERROR - only information regarding unsuccessful exports of BTL processes is displayed.

Overwrite log fileThis specifies whether the log data of the next export should be appended to the already existing log file (with the same name) or whether the existing log file may be overwritten during the next export.
Number of lines per page only for LSTDefine the number of lines per page. This option applies only to *.lst files and is related to the "Motion Controller" (H&M software).
Export path

Define the path and file name of the H&M export file to be generated.

The export file can be saved here as a *.lst or a *.csv.

During the export, progress is displayed in the status bar. When the export is complete (the status bar is full), the BTL file still needs to be written to the specified folder. This may take a few moments. Especially when dealing with large quantities of parts and assemblies, the tool may give the impression of being frozen. Keep this in mind.

The export is complete when the text "ldle" appears below the status bar.

Drill and Marking tab

If available on the machine, the "Drill and Marking" tab can be used to control a drilling unit. Drill holes can be modelled with the bolt command, or by means of a negative volume. It is then important to indicate which profile prefix is used to create the negative volume for the drill hole.

OPTIONDESCRIPTION
Export drills

Decide, whether the drills should be exported to the file.

Options:

  • Yes
  • No
Section prefixDefault is D, if a beam has this prefix in the profile, then it gets exported as a drilling unless diameter is larger then defined at "Max Diameter".
Max diameterIf part is beam and prefix is "Section prefix" and diameter of the beam is less then this value, the profile gets exported as a drilling.
Export Drilling by bolt type

Decide, whether the drilling should be exported according to the selected bolt type.

Options:

  • All
  • Site
  • Workshop
Export markings

Decide, whether the markings should be exported to the file.

Options:

  • Yes
  • No
