The application Dynamic Properties (ML162) is used to set user defined classification and PSET (UDA) distribution for model objects based on simple hierarchy which is saved in excel file. User can classify objects based on specific UDA. Dynamic properties can be also exported as IFC file.

General information

User classification - via UDA

In order to use this tool, we need to create user classification of the model objects and classification hierarchy. Different objects in model can have different user classifications (like piles, walls, foundations, etc..). This user classification is saved in the UDA and it is up to user which UDA he likes to use. In example below we will use UDA called User classification for storing user classification Pile.

Classification hierarchy - via excel file

After each object has its own user classification, we can create the classification hierarchy. This is created via the excel file. User can create three levels of hierarchy:

Element types of the user classification ➝ Property sets ➝ Property definitions.

First level can contain any amount of Element types from User classification, which can have any amount of Property sets. Second level contains Property sets with any amount of its Properties. And third level are Properties definitions. Each of these level is represented by one sheet in the excel file.

First sheet contains the list of all user classifications and its property sets. The first field on the first sheet (A1) is always reserved for the name of the UDA with the object classification (UserClassification in this example).

Option Description
1

Column with list of all element types from user classification

2

Column with list of property sets belonging to element types

Second sheet contains property sets with their properties.

Third sheet contains the definitions of properties. We can set its Type, Sub type, Tekla template and Tekla UDA.

Example

In this example we have a Foundation pile, which is has User classification as Pile, stored in UDA called UserClassification:

First excel sheet contains:

  • Reserved field A1, here we have UserClassification UDA (1)
  • Element type of the UserClassification (2)
  • Property sets we want associate with this specific Element type (3)

Second excel sheet contains all Property sets from the first list with their Properties. Picture below shows only one of these Property sets - Material info:

  • Property set - Material Info (1)
  • Properties belonging to the Material info Property set (2)

Third excel sheet contains all Properties definitions from the second list. Picture below shows Properties definition from the Material info Property set:

  • Property - name of the property
  • Type - property type like IfcLabel, IfcDateTime, IfcMassMeasure, etc.
  • SubType - property subtype like: kg, m, Volume info/Area info, etc.
  • Tekla Template - Tekla templates like: LENGHT, VOLUME can be used. Or formulas like: GetValue ("Lenght") * GetValue("WIDTH")
  • Tekla UDA - Tekla UDA like: LengthCalculati0024, ConcreteReinfor0005, ConstructionDur0001, etc.

Tab Properties

In the tab Properties user can see and set all properties of the selected model objects. All user definitions, their property sets, and properties are displayed here with hierarchy corresponding to the excel file (see the General information page for more details).
