This package installs two plugins one to manage location of doubler plate created with End plate connection and another will create additional doubler plate between Fin plate (shear tab) and beam. This doubler plate will be shop welded to column in case of end plate connection and shop welded to beam in case Fin plate connection.

How to locate : -
After installation below two plugins will be available in the Application and Components side panel.

How to apply : -
Click plugin icon in the Applications & components side panel and then select the already applied connection in the model in which you want to apply doubler plate. (See supported connections list at the end of this article)



Properties : -

1. Doubler Plate for End Plate

This plugin does not create separate doubler plate but it shifts doubler plate created by original connection to column flange and creates weld between column and doubler plate. Use fitting plate thickness to control thickness of doubler plate. Gap given in existing connection will shift from between column flange and doubler plate to end plate and doubler plate.

No separate dialog for this plugin.

2. Doubler Plate for Fin Plate 

This plugin creates new doubler plate between existing shear plate and beam web and creates weld between doubler plate and secondary beam.

  1. Blue Macro Symbol created for doubler plate plugin. To modify properties of doubler plate plugin user can double click this macro symbol.
  2. Doubler plate created between existing fin plate and beam web.
  3. Thickness of Doubler plate is controlled by this attribute.
  4. Material of Doubler plate is controlled by this attribute.
  5. Part prefix for doubler plate can be given using this attribute.
  6. Name of Doubler plate can be controlled by this attribute.
  7. Weld attributes such as size and type for weld between Doubler plate and beam web can be controlled. Weld will always be shop weld.
  8. Gap between beam edge and doubler plate start edge.
  9. Gap between fin plate end edge and doubler plate end edge.
  10. Gap between Beam top and doubler plate top edge.
  11. Gap between doubler plate bottom edge and Beam bottom.

Note : - Skewed connections not supported.
This plugin works correctly only when Secondary Beam is perpendicular to column/Main beam.
When delete the connection, main component has to be modified once to restore the original position.

Below connections are supported. These plugins may not work correctly with other connections.
