Detail Numbering (m135)
You can use plug-in Detail Numbering (m135) to quickly mark and number detail positions, as well as create detailed drawings of that position. In this way, detail numbers and associated detail drawings can be made quickly and easily.
Objects created
- A cube as a marker with the name “DETAILLABEL”.
Use for
Marking a detail label on a beam, with associated numbering information and a space from which a detail drawing can be made that contains all parts that are included within this space or intersect it. But also a label on the element drawings with the detail number. The detail number is a combination of a detail label, prefix and number. The created detail number is saved in two fields:
The part of the plugin itself and the part in which the plugin is “nested”.

Before you start
Plug-in Detail Numbering (m135) with associated element and detail drawing settings works correctly on Tekla Structures 2020 SP5 and later in combination with the role Timber detailer 2020. For older versions and other roles, you will have to create the element and detail drawing settings manually.
Selection order
1. Select a beam, a cube as marker is being created.
Part identification key
There is no part identification key.
Tab Common
| Option | Description | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Detail label |
Define the possible “prefix” of your detail label. This is a text field and can therefore contain any character commonly used in Tekla Structures. |
|||
| Separator |
Define the possible separator of your detail label. This is a text field and can therefore contain any character commonly used in Tekla Structures. “-“, “_” or empty is preferred. |
|||
| Detail Number | The final detail number, this is a numeric field and may only contain integers. | |||
| Auto Number |
Choose whether to number automatically. If this is set to Yes, the next unused whole number will be entered for every detail numbering you add to your model. Detail Numbering keeps a file called "DetailNumbering.xml" in the subfolder “DetailNumbering” in your model folder with the used numbers. You can adjust this manually if you wish. With the Reset button you delete the earlier mentioned file and the numbering starts again at 1. |
|||
| Detail UDA |
The user-defined attribute (UDA) used to write the detail number. You may adjust this, but we do not recommend this because this user-defined attribute is used for the application in the element and detail drawings. |
|||
| Name |
The name assigned to the part (marker cube) that is created by the plugin. This is read-only because it is used for the application of the element and detail drawings. |
|||
| Material |
The material name of the part (marking cube) which is created by the plugin. |
|||
| Profile |
The profile size of the part (marking cube) which is created by the plugin. |
|||
| Length |
The profile length of the part (marking cube) which is created by the plugin. |
|||
| Class |
The class (color) of the part (marking cube) which is created by the plugin. |
|||
| Direction |
The direction of the generated beam. The options are +X and -X. |
|||
| Position |
Define the position of the part (cube marker) created by the plug-in relative to the system point as usual for beams in Tekla Structures. If desired, an additional offset can be set. Adjusting these parameters does not affect the position of the detail in element and/or detail drawings. |
|||
| Offset |
Define the position of the part (cube marker) created by the plugin relative to the parent part in which the plugin is nested. This offset is performed relative to the center point and coordinate system of the parent part. |
|||
| Numbering |
Part: The part prefix and start number of the part (marking cube) which is created by the plugin. |
|||
| Generate Drawing |
Creates the detail drawing according to the settings on the tab Drawing, in case no drawing has been created with an equal detail number (Combination of detail label, insert and number). |
|||
Tab Drawing

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Name | The “prefix” in front of the name of the detail drawing: Image
|

| Drawing Open | List box to open the drawing directly after creating. | ||||
| Generate Drawing |
Creates the detail drawing according to the settings on the tab Drawing, provided no drawing has been created with an equal detail number (Combination of detail label, insertion and number). |
||||
| Size |
The size of the space from which a detail drawing can be made that containing all parts that are included or intersect this space. The dimension of this space is being executed relative to the center point and coordinate system of the part (cube marker) which is created by the plugin. |
||||
| Show detail in model |
With this button, the lines that mark the mentioned space before are displayed in the model. The lines disappear when you run the Redraw view command. These lines are not construction lines and therefore cannot be made visible by adjusting the Visibility of object types in the View Pproperties. |
