Image
This tool is used to create a column shoe connection between a column and a foundation. The foundation can be a footing, column, beam, or slab. The tool creates column shoes, anchor bolts, cuts and fittings, and the required additional reinforcing for column splice area.
Using Column Shoe Connection - Simple
To use the extension:
- Ensure that either the Select objects in components or the Select objects in assemblies switch is active.
- Choose desired anchor bolt and column shoe from picture tab. Also you can choose which attribute files you want to use.

- From "Additional Reinforcing" tab you can choose attributes and dimensions for additional reinforcing.

- Pick main part (foundation) and secondary part (column) and tool creates the connection.

1. Supported column shoes and anchor bolts
In order to create connection with correct dimensions you need to choose matching column shoe and anchor bolt. Matching column shoe and anchor bolt pairs are shown below. 2. Adding new column shoes and anchor bolts to the tool
Column shoe connection reads all column shoes and anchor bolts from .xml file ColumnShoeConnection_Definitions.xml. You can add new column shoe and anchor bolt Custom Components to tool by adding them and required data to file as shown below.

ColumnShoeConnection_Definitions.xml is installed to:
Tekla Structures installation folder\nt\bin\plugins\Tekla\Model.
It can also be used from model folder / XS_PROJECT / XS_FIRM / plugin installation folders.
3. Additional reinforcement
Additional reinforcing for column reinforcement splice area can be created according to EN 1992-1-1:2004, 8.7.4 and 9.5.3
For permanently compressed bars plugin doesn't create one stirrup above column shoe main bars.
