Function: Create production data to feed Hundegger wood-working machines that can only read the BVN format. If the machine can read the BVX format, please use the BVX Export (ML027).

BVN-Processes: BVN-information is like the BTL export organized in processes. The difference in the two “languages” is the format. Like the BTL process has its own format, so does the BVN format. In BVN each line is a process.

For example, when a timber beam has to be cut by a single cut, the BVN process “Cut” has to be used. And when for example a rafter needs a “Birds mouth” the corresponding BVN process should be in use as well.

The BVN process, which will be used by the machine to create the operation on the part, defines how and which command must be used in Tekla Structures. For some operations, the export tool is capable to define automatically which BVN process must be used. For other, more complex operations, the user has to declare what BVN process should be used by setting a specific name for negative volumes needed to model the shape of the part.

Parameters tab

On the "Parameters" tab, you can define export parameters.

OptionDescription
Export

Export the concerned parts in the model.

Options:

  • Selected parts
  • All parts
Filter operation

Options:

  • Filter is not used - no selection filter is applied.
  • Exclude filtered parts - the parts that fall within the selection filter are NOT exported.
  • Only filtered parts - only the parts that fall within the selection filter are exported.
FilterThis field is linked to the field Filter operation. If you choose Exclude filtered parts or Only filtered parts, it is possible to select a selection filter here. If you choose Filter is not active, this field inactive.
Draw axes

It is possible to display a local axes system for each part by means of construction lines in the Tekla Structures model. This can be useful for problem analysis. When exporting large quantities of parts, it is recommended to turn off this functionality. This will speed up the export process.

Options:

  • Yes
  • No
Apply export filters

Indicate whether you want to apply an export filter. In the Export Filters tab, any export filters are added.

Options:

  • Yes
  • No
Group parts per assembly

Options:

  • Yes - the number of parts with the same number are added together (total count of these parts) per assembly.
  • No
BVN-Part number

Options:

  • Selection index - ID in the BVN file is numbered from 1 to the number of parts in the file.
  • PosNr without prefix - ID in the BVN file is the PosNum of the part, without the prefix.

Warning: make sure that within the exported parts, all parts have the same prefix or create a BVN file per prefix through the "Export filters" function.

Job file nameSelect what value from your model to use to fill out in the "Job file name" parameter of the BVN file.
Drafter nameSelect what value from your model to use to fill out in the "Drafter name" parameter of the BVN file.
Delivery dateSelect the date to fill out in the "Delivery date" parameter of the BVN file.
DesignationSelect what combination of values from the part to use to fill out in the "Designation" parameter of the part in the BVN file.
Part orientation

Part orientation on the machine.

Show log

Show the log file created during the export. If any errors occur during the export, the log file will show the ID of the object in question. Select the corresponding line and the object in the Tekla Structures model will be selected.

Options:

  • Yes
  • No
Show event types

Select which information is written to the log file.

Options:

  • All - both info and error information are shown.
  • Info - only information from correctly exported processes is shown.
  • Error - only information from processes that have not been exported are shown.
Overwrite log files

Indicate whether existing log files may be overwritten or whether a new export adds the information to the existing log file.

Options:

  • Yes
  • No
Export pathDefine the location of the BVN files.

Export filters tab

On the "Export filters" tab, it is possible to set additional export filters. For relatively small projects, it is possible to export all parts to one file, regardless of the different properties of the parts to be exported. For larger projects, which for example are divided into phases or grouped by user defined attribute (UDA), it may be desirable to create an export file of a certain phase or certain group of parts, or even a combination of the two.

OptionDescription
CriteriumSelect the desired property from the selection list. Depending on the property you select from the drop-down list, you can define the corresponding value in the Export field.
Active

Indicate whether the criterium should be active.

Options:

  • Yes
  • No
UDA name

When you choose UDA under Criterium, a list box appears where you can enter the UDA name. This UDA name must be entered in capital letters.

Example

Export

Indicate which parts, depending on the criterium, should be exported.

Example

Image
011

Only the parts with material VUREN_C24 will be exported.

Generate

Options:

  • File for all values
  • File per value
Show criteria in file nameDecide, whether the filled criteria (e.g. Material_VUREN_C24) should be in file name when exported.

Configuration tab

On the "Configuration" tab, define additional properties to be exported.

Options:

  • Empty
  • Class
  • Phase
  • Lot number
  • GUID number

Operations tab

The "Operations" tab states that negative volumes based on solid round and tubular profiles marked with the letter D and whose diameter is less than or equal to 50 mm must be exported as a "Drilling" process.

Image
009

OptionDescription
Section prefix and max diameterDefine the cross-section prefix and the maximum diameter that can be processed by the machine. When a negative volume is used in the model corresponding to both set condition, the negative volume will be automatically executed as a "Drilling" process regardless of the designation.
Split into Saw cut andChoice of which process is used in combination with the sawing operation if splitting is performed. The option Housing/ Lap/ Slot again depends on the machine.
Split when lap length

In case splitting the notch into different operations is not desired, this can be prevented by setting the "Split when lap length" value greater than the longest possible notch length.

If this value is smaller than the length of the notch, the process will be split.

Maximum block lengthDepends on Split when lap length.
Intermediate housing width

Length of the block (waste) to be cut. If these blocks are too long, this can cause blockages and malfunctions in the machine.

Depending on machine dimensions and other preconditions.

Final housing widthThe width of the "intermediate housing" is actually the width/diameter of the tool used to make the intermediate slots.
Add on saw depthAdditional cutting depth is used to compensate for tolerances in the dimensions of the profile.
Maximum saw depthDistance depends on the diameter of the saw blade in the machine.
Export drilling by bolt type

Specify which bolt type should or should not be exported.

Options:

  • All
  • Site
  • Workshop

These settings can be found in the bolt properties.

About tab

Information about the "build" date of the tool. This date may differ from the date in the tool you are using, but the content may nevertheless be the same. This date may be required when you contact the helpdesk.
