System component Area filled with slabs (61) can be used to fill an area with slabs. It is possible to choose 1 massive plate, but an option to divide hollow core slabs in combination with fit plates and filler part is also possible.

Using this component, you have also the possibility to use several layers. E.g., a floor which exist out of: Finishing layer – Hollow core slab – Insulation.
To explain how this component works we use hollow core slabs and lattice girder slabs. Of course, it is possible to use this component also for other materials like timber and steel. See also next examples.

Before you start

Model a construction line or part (panels, beams). Those objects define the outside of the area.

Part identification key

Activate system component and select the construction lines or parts, next click middle mouse button. To define a recess (e.g. for a stair) select the construction lines or parts. To close: middle mouse button. (In case there is no recess, 2 times middle mouse button!)
It is important to end every recess by selecting again the first element. In case all recesses are defined, final close by middle mouse button.

Plate geometry tab

The "Plate geometry" tab can be used to define the position (level) of the filled area and also to define which classes should be cut out.

Define the reference plane for the level of the filled area.

  • Max top level outside part hor plane
  • Min bottom level outside parts hor plane

By using this option, the edge number can be shown in the model. The edge number will be represented using a number of dots on the edge. 

E.g.: edge number 3 will get 3 dots on the according edge.

1st Layer tab

The "1st Layer" tab can be used to define which type of field should be created. It is also possible to define offsets related to the inner- or outer contour.

Define the way the area should be filled. 

Options:

  • 1 big plate - one big, massive plate will be created. This option can also be used as an extra layer. For example, an extra layer on top of the hollow core slabs or an insulation layer.
  • Fill with polygon plates - the area will be filled with massive concrete plates. Dimensions (thickness and width) of those plates can be defined when choosing the option Fill with polygon plates. Choose in 1 this option and in 2 the options will become visible.
  • Fill with prefab slabs - area will be filled with (hollow core) slabs which are defined on tab 1st Layer slabs.
  • Fill with parametric prefab slabs - area will be filled with parametric plate profiles which are defined on the "Layer 1 param. slabs" tab.

Define the properties of the concrete plate(s) in case of 1 big plate or Fill with polygon plates chosen in option 1

Options:

  • Thickness - field is available when 1 big plate or Fill with polygon plates is chosen.
  • Width - field is available when Fill with polygon plates is chosen.
  • Pos_No - define the prefix and start number of the plates.
  • Material - define the material grade of the concrete plate.
  • Name - define the name of the concrete plate which can be showed in drawings and reports.
  • Class - define the class (color) of the concrete plate.
  • Comment - define the comment of the concrete plate.
  • Finish - define the finish of the concrete plate.

Options:

  • Reference border - define the reference part/side of the area. See examples below.
  • Show ref border - using this option reference part can be shown by a construction line or profile.
  • Extra rotation - define whether the plates are placed parallel or perpendicular related to the reference part.
  • Connect to 2nd - define if the profiles/plates of the first layer should be connected with the profiles/plates of the second layer.

Using the pick list the opportunity is there to remove the first or the last plate. 

This depends on the option No slab if a is smaller then and No plate if b is smaller then.

It is also possible to add a gap between the plates. The options are:

This function contains options in case of skew sides in a filled area. Using these options can be decided what to do with the end of a hollow core beam having an angle other than 90 degrees,

These options do work in combination with field α, where the maximum angle can be defined.

Options to define an offset for the plates/profiles related to the reference part/reference side. More than 1 offset is possible. To do so: add space between the values.

The Offset position can be defined for the contour of the area and the recesses as well.

Adjustment Type: Restslab from file and CIP, Cut rightside

Using this adjustment type the file fitplates.dat is taken into account. In this file the available fitplates per hollow core slab are defined. 

The Adjustment Type Restslab from file and CIP, Cut rightside searches for the biggest possible fitplate possible. The space left will be filled with a filler part.

In the next example in List is defined plate 2 in the field should be adjusted. There is a space of 530 mm available. The biggest possible fitting plate is a fitting plate of 400 mm. De space left on the right side will be a filler plate:

Layer 1 param. slabs tab

The "Layer 1 param. slabs" tab can be used when on tab 1st Layer the option “Fill with prefab slabs” is chosen. On this tab the properties can be defined.

The "Insert components" tab can be used to define which components should be used and inserted. You can do this per layer.
