Notes

  • It is important to realise that any modification of the parts to which this macro applies is likely to cause incorrect results in the model. This is because the items created by a macro are not redefined when changes are made to the previously selected members. If it is necessary to change any of the members upon which the macro is dependent then first delete all the parts created by the macro, make the required changes and finally re-apply the macro.
  • Most of the data required for this macro is fixed by Albion and stored in a series of data files supplied with Tekla Structures. Where standard data is not applicable, then certain items can be modified through the Parameters tab of the properties panel, but it is also possible to tailor the data files to individual requirements. This would require assistance from Tekla Structures support.
  • All purlin lengths must be parallel.
  • All purlins must have the same offset from the rafter.
  • A double cleat will always be defined to the eaves beam. The purlin may have either a double or single cleat added depending on the information entered in the Parameters tab. The point selected in this macro sets the position of the strut along the member.

Selection order example

  1. Eaves beam
  2. Purlin
  3. Pick a point or hole (the point must be a Tekla point object, rather than a snap point)
