Purpose and description

A component to easily and quickly add cross style bracing to a transmission tower.

System requirements

Tekla Structures.

Using [extension]

To use the component:
  1. From the component catalog select the Cross_Bracing component.

Cross_Dims.jpg
Options to specify the bracing spacing dimensions.
Option 1 - If set to No the bottom right dimensions 
is the same as the left dimension, if set to "Yes" then
the user can specify a different dimension.

All dimensions are along the leg.

The Leg Gauge Line dimensions of the profiles are read automatically from the GaugeLines.dat file (in the model, firm or system folder).
These can be over written by the user if necessary.

Options to turn On/Off the bracing sets.
The bottom set is always created.
If more than 5 sets are required then additional bracing can be added in the model.

Option to specify the input orientation for the bracing.
Red = Outside brace
Green = Inside brace

Option to show additional construction lines in the model on the Gauge line of the legs.

The Bracing Gauge Line dimensions of the profiles are read automatically from the GaugeLines.dat file (in the model, firm or system folder).

Option to specify the bracing profile.
The component is expecting equal L profiles and will not give the correct results with unequal profiles or other profile shapes.

Option to give an Offset from the layout points
along the legs.
Offsets are symmetrical on both legs for each bracing set.

Option to give an offset from the leg face to both the inside & outside bracing.
eg. if a gusset plate is needed to connect the bracing to the leg.

Additional information

  • Only 5 sets of bracing can be applied at once
  • The Component direction must be set according to the directions shown in the dialog before applying
