In the Tedds application the Send To command allows you to send the contents of your document to another application or file. In particular if you have created several related calculation documents that you want to compile into a larger project report you can use the Send To command to help you do this.

The Send To command provides several different methods for sending your document to another application or file as outlined below:

Send To - Mail Recipient

Creates a new email in your default MAPI compliant email application with your Tedds document included as an attachment. The recipient can then open the document using Tedds or import the document into Tedds for Word.

Send To - Clipboard

Sends the contents of the document including all the variables to the Windows Clipboard, the document header is not included. The text and pictures in the document can then be pasted into most word processing applications and many other applications as well. If the contents are pasted into a Tedds for Word document using the Paste Calc Section command the variables will also be inserted. Tedds for Word can then be used to calculate the pasted calculation.

Send To - File

Sends the contents of the document to a Rich Text Format (RTF) file, the variables and document header are not included. This format is a standard Microsoft file format that can be opened by most word processing applications.

Send To - Word

Sends the contents of the document directly to Microsoft Word, the variables and document header are not included. If Word is not already open it will be started automatically. If you want to choose whether a new document is created or where the text is inserted into a currently open document use the Send To - Wizard command.

Send To - Tedds for Word

Sends the contents of the document including all the variables to Tedds for Word. By default a new document will be created in Tedds for Word and the header properties will also be copied. If you want to choose whether a new document is created or where the text is inserted into a currently open document or if you want the calculation to be inserted in a new Calc Section use the Send To - Wizard command.
Quick Tip: If you want the document header properties to be included when you send To Tedds for Word make sure you use the Wizard and select the option to create a New document. When using the Append or Insert options the document header properties are not copied to prevent any existing header information from being overwritten.

Send To - Wizard

The Send To Wizard allows you to choose the method used and to specify any additional options for that method. If additional options are available and you check the option Save the above as my default options then whenever you use that particular Send To method directly those options will be used by default. This allows you to setup each Send To command with your preferred options and then use them via a single click from the main toolbar.

Tedds for Word

When you send a document to Tedds For Word the variables are also copied which means that you can calculate your document in Tedds for Word in the same way as you do in Tedds. The advantage of using Tedds for Word is that you can include as many calculations as you like in the same document, if you want to do this just remember to put each calculation in its own Calc Section so that the variables for each calculation are kept separate. Using Tedds for Word you can also use all of Word's powerful word processing features to include additional content in your document, including pictures, spread sheets and output from other programs.
Once you have sent a document to Tedds for Word there is no link between the original Tedds document and the new Tedds for Word document, you now have two totally separate documents which can then be modified independently.

Summary

Using the Send To command allows you to export your Tedds calculation results to other programs. In particular it provides a simple way to migrate from using Tedds to using Tedds for Word so that you can then create complete project reports and benefit from the additional power that Tedds for Word offers. However if you are quite happy creating single standalone calculations in Tedds then there is nothing wrong with that, Tedds is a powerful application in its own right that allows you to use all of the calculations in the Tedds engineering library.
