Import, view, or delete CNC files

You can import CNC files to Tekla PowerFab, and view or delete the previously loaded CNC files that are associated with the current production control job in the CNC Files dialog box.

To access the CNC Files dialog box, do the following:
  1. In the Select Production Control Job dialog box, open a job and click the Production Control ribbon tab.
  2. On the menu, select CNC Files.

The CNC Files dialog box opens.

Tip:

Import CNC files

  1. At the bottom of the dialog box, click Load CNC Files.

    The Import dialog box opens.

  2. Click ... to set the folder from which CNC files are imported.
  3. Browse to and select the folder.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Type the file extension used for CNC files in the selected folder.

Currently, Tekla PowerFab can read DSTV and DXF files. The most common extensions for these are .NC1 and .DXF respectively.

  6. Click OK to import the CNC files.

The Enter Value dialog box opens. You are expected to enter a group name, which allows you to identify the CNC files that were loaded into Tekla PowerFab at the same time.

  7. Type a name for the group of CNC files.
  8. Click OK.

The detailer’s job number is included in the DSTV file. If the job number of your production control job is different, you receive the following prompt:

Use Current Job: Adds the file to the current job even though the job number is different

Use Current Job - All: Adds all files to the current job even though the job # is different

Don't Use Current Job: Ignores the file

Don't Use Current Job - All: Ignores all files with that job number in the DSTV file

When the job numbers match, Tekla PowerFab imports all CNC files from the folder that you selected.

  9. Review the import results and click Close.
