Purpose and description

A component to easily and quickly add K bracing to a transmission tower.

System requirements

Tekla Structures.

Using The K Bracing

To use the component:

1. From the component catalog select the K_Bracing component.

1. Select the parts in the model (2 No.)

2. Select the input points

Parameters Tab

Property	Description
Image	Options to specify the bracing spacing dimensions.   All dimensions are along the leg.
Image	The Leg Gauge Line dimensions of the profiles are read automatically from the GaugeLines.dat file (in the model, firm or system folder). These can be over written by the user if necessary.
Image	Option to create the bracing groups. If more than 5 groups are needed, then add another component in the model.
Image	Options to offset the brace ends along the legs.
Offset	Option to offset the bracing from the leg face.
Image	Option to show additional construction lines in the model on the Gauge line of the legs.

Diagonals Tab

Property	Description
Image	The Bracing Gauge Line dimensions of the profiles are read automatically from the GaugeLines.dat file (in the model, firm or system folder). These can be over written by the user if necessary.
Image	Option to specify the bracing profile. The component is expecting equal L profiles and will not give the correct results with unequal profiles or other profile shapes.

Horizontal Tab

Property	Description
Image	Option to specify the type and orientation of horizontal brace. The component is expecting an equal L profile or a U profile, any other profile with give incorrect results.
Image	Option to specify the bracing profile. The component is expecting equal L profiles and will not give the correct results with unequal profiles or other profile shapes. The Option to specify a U profile is inactive until the U option is selected (see above)

OffsetTab

Option to offset the bracings allong the horizontal brace.

Additional information

• The conponent only has the option for 5 groups of bracing, the first group is always created.
• The Component direction must be set according to the directions shown in the dialog before applying
