Interactive help for Tekla Structural Designer in Trimble Assistant for Tekla
Trimble Assistant for Tekla is an artificial intelligence (AI) chat service that provides support for Tekla products which is available in Tekla Structural Designer.

Note:
If your organisation does not permit the use of AI services it can be disabled as described below.
To use Trimble Assistant for Tekla

On the Window ribbon, select Trimble Assistant
The Trimble Assistant window opens.
Note:Trimble Assistant for Tekla has two chat assistants: User Assistant and Developer Assistant.

User Assistant provides support for Tekla Structural Designer based on content in Tekla User Assistance.

Developer Assistant is not applicable to Tekla Structural Designer - it helps with writing macros and modifying models using the Tekla Structures Open API.

Ensure User Assistant is selected.

Type your question or request for information in the chat interface. Be clear and specific to get the most accurate response.

The assistant will provide concise answers, links to relevant resources, or guide you through processes based on your query.

To disable Trimble Assistant for Tekla if you manage your own installation of Tekla Structural Designer
Note:
Trimble Assistant for Tekla can only be disabled if you are running Tekla Structural Designer as an administrator.
To run as an administrator:
- Locate the Tekla Structural Designer 2025 executable file or shortcut.
- Right-click on it and select "Run as administrator" from the context menu.
- If prompted, confirm the action by clicking "Yes" or providing administrator
credentials.
Tekla Structural Designer opens.
Should you want to disable Trimble Assistant for Tekla, provided you are running Tekla Structural Designer as an administrator, you can do so as follows:
- On the Home ribbon, click Settings
The Settings dialog is displayed.
- On the Trimble Assistant for Tekla page, unselect
Enable Trimble Assistant for Tekla
A warning is displayed.
- Click OK
- Restart Tekla Structural Designer in the normal way.
Trimble Assistant for Tekla is now disabled.
- If you subsequently want to re-enable Trimble Assistant for Tekla, repeat the above steps reselect 'Enable'.
To disable Trimble Assistant for Tekla if someone manages Tekla Structural Designer for you
If your organisation wants to restrict access to this feature, your IT administrator can disable it by using group policy to add the following registry key:
