Upgrade Tekla Structural Designer to a new version
If you already have Tekla Structural Designer installed and are upgrading to a new major version please note that you can have multiple Tekla Structural Designer versions on your computer. When you install a new version you are not required to immediately uninstall the previous version.
To upgrade to a new major version, firstly download the installation package from Tekla Downloads and then proceed to Install and license Tekla Structural Designer as if you were a new user.
Service packs are cumulative updates to major versions - these replace the previous service pack installation for the same Tekla Structural Designer version. So you should only have the latest service pack installed per version.
If Checking for Updates (as described below) notifies you that a service pack is available, it can be downloaded directly. Service packs can also be downloaded at any time from Tekla Downloads. Once downloaded, proceed to install the service pack.
Checking for Updates
Each time you open Tekla Structural Designer, the software will automatically check the version you have installed and if any software updates are available a warning symbol will appear on the Show Process button (bottom of the window). When you click this button to open the Process Window you are informed that updates are available.
You can then obtain the updates (or check for updates at any time) by selecting the "Check for Updates" button on the Home tab of the Ribbon.
If any software updates are available your default web browser will open automatically at the appropriate location for downloading the latest software updates applicable to your version of Tekla Structural Designer.
