Profile Catalog updated for AISC Manual of Steel Construction 16th Ed.

The US Imperial profile database has been updated to reflect the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Manual of Steel Construction, 16th Edition, based on the AISC Shapes Database v16.0. This update includes significant enhancements to profile properties.

Profile Values Added

The following properties have been added to all applicable profiles, providing more comprehensive data for design and analysis:

  • NORMALIZED_WARPING_CONSTANT
  • PLASTIC_MODULUS_X
  • PLASTIC_MODULUS_Y
  • SECTION_MODULUS_X
  • STATICAL_MOMENT_Qf
  • STATICAL_MOMENT_Qw
  • TORSIONAL_CONSTANT
  • WARPING_CONSTANT
  • WARPING_STATICAL_MOMENT

Property Data Type Change

The data type for the following profile properties has been changed from Ratio to String to provide greater flexibility and accuracy:

  • ACTUAL_WEB_THICKNESS_D_C
  • ACTUAL_WEB_THICKNESS_D_I
  • ACTUAL_WEB_THICKNESS_D_T

SQRT_OF_E_x_Cw_PER_G_x_J Property Values* Removed

The values* have been removed from the profile catalog because it inherently mixes material-dependent properties (Young's Modulus, E, and Shear Modulus, G) with geometry-dependent properties (Warping Constant, Cw, and Torsional Constant, J).

*just the values not the property itself

Common rebar sizes added to the profile catalog

Rebar added to the model with Create reinforcement can not be welded (to steel parts / components) and cannot be included with the Tekla PowerFab Connector. To work around this modeling rebar as a steel part using Create a steel beam or Create a steel polybeam is necessary. To facilitate this workflow, standard rebar sizes have been added to the profile catalog.

New templates for the Steel Standards Project UDA tab

Two new templates (Steel_ProjectStandards.tpl and Steel_ProjectStandards-TBStyle5.tpl) have been provided for the Steel Standards UDA tab information. It has been added to the left side of the layouts.

User-defined attributes (UDAs) to control the output of the Steel Standards tab UDAs values have been added to. The controls add the ability to show the new template on: All, GA, Fabrication, or None drawings.

The TypeA-Dwg_TitleBlocks.tpl and TypeAGM-Dwg_TitleBlocks.tpl have been updated to no longer call out Steel Standards UDA values.

Fix List

Defect NumberDevelopment AreaDescription
TSLOC-7711NumberingUpdate XS_PART_POSITION_NUMBER_FORMAT_STRING to remove the period: Removed the "." separator between %PART_PREFIX% and %PART_POS% in XS_PART_POSITION_NUMBER_FORMAT_STRING. The separator only shows up in the document manager and occasionally causes issues with the export to Tekla PowerFab.
TSLOC-8942Advanced optionsObsolete advanced options were removed from the environment and role ini files.
TSLOC-8966TemplatesTypeGM-Drg_TitleBlocks.tpl was not outputting for Styles 2→5 and some of the new Standard UDAs don't work in all fields. This has been fixed.
TSLOC-8998Concrete componentsUpdate parametric profiles in attribute sets: Previously some attribute sets were referencing renamed parametric profiles, these have been updated to the latest.
TSLOC-8997Concrete catalogConcrete profiles hidden when using Concrete objects: Some concrete profile groupings were hidden when using concrete objects. This issue was caused by certain groupings being marked as Steel only.
TSLOC-9007Templates and reports

Added the new User defined attributes to the template editor browser by adding the following files.

  • contentattributes_Project_US_FabricationTeam.lst
  • contentattributes_Project_US_ProjectTeam.lst
  • contentattributes_Project_US_SubcontractorTeam.lst
  • contentattributes_Project_US_SteelStandards.lst
TSLOC-9048User-defined attributes

UDAs with special flag no longer affect numbering: Previously the US Environment UDAs that should affect numbering were not. This has been fixed in the following files.

  • objects_ModelObject_US_ModelingWorkflow.inp
  • objects_ModelObject_US_Concrete_FinishInformation.inp
  • objects_ModelObject_US_Concrete_Parameters.inp
  • objects_ModelObject_US_ContourPlateOrientation.inp
